iHasan Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Okay,so we all know that VH1 and Rhapsody are 'leaking' 21st Century Breakdown and they also have permission from the band but is it a good idea or not.I think not,we all know that they are streaming and we're no stranger to idea that now a days we can even download streaming music via some special softwares installed on your PC and it's going to decrease the album sales.I'm not saying 'VH1 and Rhapsody!,listen don't leak the album'.It's because of the fact they have the band's permission rather,it's my own opinion. What's your opinion?P.S I searched there's no any other topic about it
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I think it's a bad idea, because I don't wanna listen it, but it indeed will not increase any sales, and probably just a tiny bit of promoting. But yeah, the band gave permission, so I guess it's okay. I'm not going to listen it though.
Ally Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 i can't say i agree or disagree really, i like the idea cos of the obv reason...we hear the album a week early but i think its a bad idea, cos i dunno really...i don't think it should happen but i want it to happen!
Katarina. Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I don't like it really.Like, just wait seven days more and you can buy the album! That's how I think about it.
Haz Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I'm not really sure, I get where you're coming from though. When does this streaming thing start?
mad hatter. Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 As a fan, I LOVE the idea seeing as I really can't wait for the album. I don't really think it matters though. I'm still going to buy the album asmost people still will. (: Plus let's face it, they've given us 7 songs already.
Hermione Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Well I have no objection to anyone who wants to hear it early and I completely understand why they would do so! But personally I'd say it's a bad idea just because I really enjoy the experience of going to buy the CD, the anticipation while bringing it home, and finally listening to it. So this temptation is a bit annoying.Plus, I hate how nowadays people who can't afford the internet miss out on SO much when it comes to music. And if you don't have digital/Sky TV either you get virtually nothing other than a CD (if any CD shops are still even open in your town). Of course I now take advantage of everything the net has to offer, but I remember what it was like to hear about cool stuff I'd never get like download-only singles and stuff, it sucked. This just seems like another unnecessary bonus for internet users
Green Daynger25 Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I think it's bad idea but then again I said I wasn't going to listen to anything but the released single. Then the leaked demo and the 6 other songs. So why not let us listen to the whole thing...bastards. But I am standing strong and will not..WILL NOT listen to the streaming this Friday. Saturday maybe.
Claudio Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 If I remember correctly, the guys did the same with American Idiot and Warning, they let the people listen the album before it was released. So, I don´t think it´s a bad or good idea, it won´t affect the people that are going to buy the album.
iHasan Posted May 6, 2009 Author Posted May 6, 2009 But it somehow kills the excitment. You know you go to a store, buy the CD thinking "OMG,OMG,New Album".it's fine you know for people who think it's a good idea listening a week earlier but when you buy the CD,put it in your player and it's more fun.
Foxboro Hot Tubs Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I told my opinion about that in a lot of threads, but okay let's do it again.I think it's a great idea for those who ........ well I don't know for whom it's a good idea.I don't think that it's that bad idea. for me it's just not the right way to listen to the new record for the first time.I've waited so long for the new record and I'm looking forward to the moment when I hold the cd in my hands, take the booklet out, open my beer and push the play button on my stereo. this moment is going to be the best and final moment of all the waiting. to me it's kinda like a holy and glorious moment I'm looking forward to for years. so now I don't want to spoil this moment by listening to the record on the radio by sitting in front of the computer. I also don't wanna spoil this moment by watching YouTube videos from any performance they had last months. I think every single person should decide that for his/her own. and I made my decision. even it takes a lot of patience (that I usually don't have) and even if the temptation inside of me is really just before an explosion. I will wait.
Kaddi. Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Bad idea... to leak some songs is okay, but the whole album? No!
CarmenPunkGirl Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 i don't think it's a good ideea.but i'l listen it
SynthwaveTrooper Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 they did the same with American Idiot, did the album lose sales? no, it gained more sales because of that
skully Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 i think its a bad idea as listing to it a week early will just ruin all the exitment of physically getting the album as you will have heard all of the songs and there will be no surprises in the album for the people that have listend to it on vh1 and rapshody also less people will bye the album as the can just liten to it then.
norcalgreendayfan Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I think its a good idea so it gets the album out to people who may not ordinarily listen to Green Day and lead to possible higher album sales. I know most of us here are already going to buy the album when it comes out if not been preordered by some of us here. I know I already preordered it on Amazon
deathtofalsesushi Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 My theory is that they do this kind of thing because they know it's gonna leak anyway. If they can pre-empt it, they can use the opportunity to advertise other stuff.
Kate Austen Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 It was gonna leak regardless. And even if it didn't, wasn't going to change a thing. People who don't buy CDs will never buy CD's. They would have just waited till release date to download it for free.Other artists in the past have streamed albums before release, and they still sold millions. The thing is, a stream isn't full quality. Which means people get to "test drive" the album so to speak, and it gives them more motivation to buy a full quality version with album art if they like the stream. So what this tells me, is the band is THAT confident their album is THAT good to put their album out early for people to hear. So IMO it's a good idea. Now people get to hear it a week early, and if it's incredible - (which i think it will be) - it's gonna really hype this and it will be a huge pay off.

The same thing will happen with any webrips of the leak. I will still have that awesome feeling when I buy the cd and listen to the songs full blast. I sure do wish Best Buy would tell us what this limited edition version has.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...&id=1963709I'm hoping its like the American Idiot edition that had a dvd type of case.
EndlessNameless Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 I don't think it's a good idea. Like someone said above, it was gunna get leaked. And it did, we listened to 21st Century Breakdown didn,t we?
