AFTER seven years, "Good Morning America" is ditching Bryant Park for the greener pastures of Central Park.

This year's "Good Morning America" summer concert series, which kicks off with punk act Green Day May 22, is making the move to Rumsey Playfield, where the Central Park SummerStage concert series is traditionally held.

Besides the caché of broadcasting live from the most famous park in the world, the move made good economic sense for the network. "GMA" can use the concert set-up that already exists, instead of having to build a stage and tear it down every week, which was " a lot of work and expensive," says "GMA" senior executive producer Jim Murphy.

Other segments of "GMA" -- like grilling and fashion -- will be also be relocated to the park, so they'll be able to take advantage of the weather and the setting.

While competitor "Today's" concert pop-act line-up skews younger, "GMA" is going with a range of acts from old-school R&B (Lionel Richie) and punk, to pop (Kelly Clarkson) and country (Reba McEntire).

The entrance to Rumsey Playfield is on 69th Street and Fifth Avenue. Audiences are advised to arrive by 6 a.m. Taping runs from 7 to 9 a.m.

May 22: Green Day

May 29: Lionel Richie

June 5: John Legend

June 12: Jonas Brothers

June 19: Jamie Foxx

June 26: Broadway's "HAIR"

July 3: Brad Paisley

July 10: Queen Latifah

July 31: Kelly Clarkson

Aug. 14: Kenny Chesney

Aug. 21: Reba McEntire

Can someone exlpain what this is? Being a Brit I've never seen it. Is it breakfast television or something?

Will it be a concert that can be downloaded etc?

'Other segments of "GMA" -- like grilling and fashion -- will be also be relocated to the park, so they'll be able to take advantage of the weather and the setting'.

Would be good to see Green Day grilling the 'fashionable' Jonas Brothers... Mike get out your BBQ sweetheart!

Good Morning America is a national morning program in the US. It's a 2 hour program running weekday mornings 7-9am (live EST at least, not sure if it's taped and shown later in other time zones) They do 'segments' from news to weather to entertainment shizz. They have this Summer Concert Series thingy where they have a musical guest every Friday, and they play songs the last hour of the show.

I've had friends who have gone to this before when a band their kid likes is playing - you have to get there at like 3-4 am in order to get close to the stage. It's free, too. :) And that was at Bryant Park - cannot imagine how awesome it's gonna be in Central Park.

OMFG, you are so NOT kidding!!! I won't miss this one, tho. So glad school is over for me next week!

I NEVER thought they would do GMA! Haha - I am getting the hysteria feeling back again...*takes deep breath*

If I have to go myself, I will. I will drag Samantha up at 3 am and drag her ass if I have to, hehe.

What does GMA have to do with Australia? It's "Good Morning America."

I'll have to set my TiVo to record this so I can watch it when I go home.

that would be a great way to start of your morning, seeing green day live :D

Blu, do they play it live there or is it shown at 7 am your time, too? Just curious. :) Now that I think of it, it's a silly question - that would be way too early to be shown live.

And heh, my chance to make a fool of myself on national tv... :ermm:

exactly my point, why do we get it ???? how does it relate to Australia in anyway, hence why I don't watch it
