Fuzz Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/feature/q-a...003968568.storyPretty damn good. I really enjoy Q&A type interviews a bit more than actual articles. It's nice to hear things coming straight from them.
tapdancingowl Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Wow, I am pretty excited about the record now. I have to be honest, I wasn't too into it. I always figured I'd buy it in a few months when it's a little less expensive, and listen to it when I listen to it. Now I think I'll actually try and get it the day it comes out. The concept behind it seems interesting; I like how GD is singing through characters now. Plus, big win for Billie teaching himself piano. Impressive.
TheBullwinkle Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Quote Is “21st Century Breakdown” a more physically demanding album to perform?Cool: I've got these new muscles on my arms that I don't know where the hell they came from. My hands are getting torn up, too. I had to get fingerprinted today for a passport and I didn't have a fingerprint on one hand, because it had worn off from my drumstick. So I could be a cat burglar, if this music thing doesn't pan out. He's the best.
Anja Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 What a great read! Way better than to hear what any journalist has to say about it. Quote We said, "Let's just jump into the f*cking frying pan and go out and play for people."Best decision you made so far this year
Renjini Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Quote But we're going for our doctorate by now. I think we're brain surgeons at this point. J'net Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Oooh, I really enjoyed that read! I agree - I love hearing the guys speak for themselves instead of having their words interpreted and paraphrased until they're saying things like, "This album nearly killed all 3 of us!"
Anja Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Quote There are three new songs off of "21st Century" that are going to be on it, and a couple of songs that never made anything.I already knew that but hearing/reading it from his mouth now makes me really want to see that thing :/
minority29 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 cool interview but i thought it was weird that billie joe had his own page and then mike and tre had their own page too .

St. Jimmy of New York Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Love this line...But quitting? Nah. Nobody leaves this band unless it's in a coffin.
tapdancingowl Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 ^ Unfortunate facts of life. But it could also be that Mike and Tre really weren't too talkative. After watching a lot of band interviews (of various bands, not just Green Day), I've noticed that generally one or two of the members are really talkative and outgoing, and the others take a bit of a back seat in the interview. It could just be a personality thing. But hey, at least they got a page!

It takes a lot longer to say anything when you have to insert so many "you knows!" I was actually thrilled to see that there will be some new songs in the show that aren't on AI or 21CB. I had somehow missed that up until now. I knew it included some from 21CB, but I missed the other part. That's exciting!

.:Whatsername:. Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Quote But quitting? Nah. Nobody leaves this band unless it's in a coffin. Reminds me so much of the "nobody leaves this band unless it's in a body bag" line. It makes me so happy that they're still so together and wanting to be in a band at all. It gives me hope they'll be around for a long while.Anyways, I loved the interview. I like Q&A's a lot. And I think Billie gets a whole page, or talks more than the others because he writes everything so he knows more about what he's talking about than Tré or Mike. I do love when Mike talks though.
