SOMERTEN Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Delfina at 'nothing wrong with me' website has posted the following message on her site:'The Wall Street Journal reports that Green Day's concert at the Uptown will be carried on MySpace, and the one at the Fox Theater will be a video-on-demand on Comcast'.Can anyone (Andres in particular) explain how this may work? I wasn't sure if it would be pay per view or if you could pay for this and download it etc. If you could it would be fantastic. I despair at my lack of technical knowhow at times, but don't feel I need it with you lot around! I would absolutely love to see the Fox Theatre gig. Thanks in advance!05-02 - GREEN DAY AT THE WALL STREET JOURNALAlso in April, the band played shows at two small venues in Oakland, Calif., that were filmed. One at the Uptown Night Club is to be carried on News Corp.'s MySpace, while a show at the Fox Theater is to be presented as a video-on-demand offering to Comcast cable subscribers. IFC is to begin using the band's music in spots that air starting Sunday. [Full article at Wall Street Journal] http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124113676663475423.html
rage-love-life Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 Interesting. I also don't know how that would work either, I'm also technology impaired.
themole Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 It'll probably be one of those on-demand things you can order for like $5, like a movie
sillybanana Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 maybe you need to have Comcast as your ISP 1st to get your stream ???
imjustaguy Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I have Comcast, and for OnDemand, some of it is free and some is pay. It all depends on what is exactly. It is almost like Pay Per View.
The Disappearing Boy Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 i guess we would have to pay for it then. would it be that you have to pay once, or for every view?
Rezurgam Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 I think it's a pay once deal and it's going to air once only. I don't really know though. When it airs, can someone please record the show?
GTI Posted May 2, 2009 Posted May 2, 2009 The myspace one will be free, they don't charge for anything. As for the other, no clue.
Rezurgam Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 http://online.wsj.com/article/SB124113676663475423.htmlAn article on how Warner is marketing the album and some info on the musical. Warner Bros. has enlisted partners ranging from MySpace to Independent Film Channel LLC to Comcast Corp. in a bid to shore up album sales, amid challenges ranging from online piracy to increased competition for consumers' attention. "The setup on records today has far more detail than ever before," says Tom Whalley, chairman of Warner Bros., a unit of Warner Music Group Corp.Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong and the band agreed to work with Mr. Mayer, director of "Spring Awakening," to bring songs from "American Idiot" to the stage. Mr. Mayer is fleshing out the narrative with some songs from the band's coming album, "21st Century Breakdown," and he says the musical, still a work in progress, may include songs that Green Day fans have never heard. The musical does take some liberties with Green Day's songs: some lyrics are sung as group numbers and others sung back and forth as dialogue. The story, about three working-class suburban friends who try to redefine their lives in post-9/11 America, came together with regular input from Mr. Armstrong, Mr. Mayer says.
Velocity Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I have Comcast cable TV, and with on-demand you don't always have to pay for stuff. Like, I remember a year or so ago I was able to watch a free Green Day interview, and they always have some free movies and music videos. So basically, the Fox show might be free to watch. But I was wondering earlier if it would be possible to record it and post it online.
Robin105 Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I'm sure they will end up on youtube sometime in the futureOfftopic: 1,000th Post!!
MusicalDeviant Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I think this is me singing crappilyI'm not positive, but there was a girl standing next to me that was like 4 feet tall, and it appears that someone of that height took this video. She was also filming with a phone camera, which this appears to be as well. And lastly, that's the guard (at 2:49) that was standing in front of us. So that loud singing you hear is either me, or the guy next to her. Either way, its terrible. You start to really hear me at around 3:40. I'm the lower voice that isn't the band. Yikes. Remind me never to sing again.

Angela. Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I don't have Comcast. (*cough*Dish Network FTW*cough*)But like TheBullwinkle said, I'd love the person who could record the Fox gig.

To be fair, she was shorter than the barriers, so the guard never even saw her. Where are the short Green Day fans? We want you.

We want you.I'm pretty midget-esque myself. The barrier was against my ribs all night; I had bruises right under the tatas for a week and a half.

The nail is still completely black with dried blood.

It's bent to the side permanently.
