Looks like it's cooooool to bash Green Day again. It's okay though. I got used to it between 1997-2003.

You know, you don't have to write "DJ Rossstar" at the end of every single post. We can see your username.

Does every review have to start out the same? (From the guys who wrote about masturbation, now they're mad still! etc etc)

It wasn't a negative review as much as a "meh" review.

You know what I hate more than negative Green Day reviews? People who bash reviewers' opinions.

Posted

I don't read reviews because I don't particulary care what critics think.

I know I've not heard the full album, but I kinda agree with some of it. Interesting that they've said this after putting them on the cover though.

That was a fun read.

there's nothing wrong with an opposing side.

well that's happnes

I have yet to read the article, but i'm willing to bet that the article doesn't actually bash Green Day, but give an honest opinion on the album. Which some of you are fine with if the opinion is that it's good.

I'll read the article properly later, and I'll be fully prepared to eat humble pie, but I wouldn't hold your breath. :P

I'm excited for Pitchfork to review 21st CB.

They've never liked mainstream music outside of radiohead. So I'm guessing they will give it a 3.2/10. That's my prediction.

3/5 it's really "bad". More among the lines of average.

It doesn't particularly bother me if an album gets a bad review. If i like it, that's all i care about really.

I don't see how the article "bashes" the album

the author gave it a 3/5 stars which deems it "meh" worthy

which based on the two songs ive heard so far, it is worth a meh

I went to pitchfork and they had a song review for Know your Enemy, they gave it 5/10

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks/11201-know-your-enemy/

Wasn't Pitchfork the ones that criticized the album before they even heard a single song? Something like "Get ready to hate the new Green Day album", back in like February. If so, it'd be hard for me to take them seriously.

All the head honchos so far have been giving the album great reviews.

I don't think it was that bad. They're weren't really bashing Green Day; well, if they were, at least they made it subtle.

It's starting to get fucking annoying reading the words "a band who sings songs about masturbation/jerking off" a million times. Is it just me or was that just ONE song (Longview) that isn't really even about masturbation? I mean it mentions it in one line but that's it. :/

It's not like it's not expected...

Yep. That's the article someone posted here a while back. Fuck that.

Thing about pitchfork is it's good for smaller bands, they get a lot of good exposure for some really good bands that not many people have heard. Problem with them, is that they are so pretentious, it's ridiculous.

I didnt think it was that bad, and besides everyone is entitled to their opinion.

and it is true, some people MAY not like their music.

I thought it was a good review, only makes me want the album more, and a lot of the points made can't really be disagreed with. If everyone wants what everyone THINKS green day would do after AI then i'm glad they're disappointed because in my opinion more characters and another concept is unexpected and fresh. The sound has changed since AI but green day are still green day, and that is what we all want to hear! (isn't it?)

They're clearly not making a "gritty grab for street cred" or trying to remake their biggest success, they're moving on and up, and for that i respect them.

I'm looking forward to hearing the full album, you can't complain when Billie starts singing, you just hav to shut up an listen!
