greendaytone Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Ok, i'm a little drunk while making this topic, so it might not last. But, this is something close to my heart... Green Day. Fans come and go, but who's really in it for the long haul? I've been a fan for about 15 years now and i see no reason why Green Day shouldn't continue to be 'my' band. I believe in their music and everything they stand for. What about you? I don't think there's much loyalty in music, when it comes to bands, but i'm proud to say i'm a loyal Green Day fan.
Fuzz Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 The problem with that kind of question, is that most people assume they will be - until a few years down the road they realize they just don't really care about them anymore.
The Disappearing Boy Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 i would hope i shall be in it for the long haul.but you can never tell what the future holds, of course.
suicidexmakeover Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 well i was quite a new fan, catching on around the ai era and its been 5 years since then and i love them just as much as i did then. so yeh i reckon i am.
Juan Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 The problem with that kind of question, is that most people assume they will be - until a few years down the road they realize they just don't really care about them anymore.very true, although since discovering them, they have been my favorite band and they still are...since 2006...four years
amy_runs Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 ^ That And I really do hope they continue to be my favorite. I'm pretty sure they will
greendaytone Posted April 18, 2009 Author Posted April 18, 2009 Yeah i guess we're approaching a time when people 'love' Green Day, and then they move on. But, with this band, i can't personally see why you'd move on. No-one does it better.
Boston Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I've loved Green Day for about five years now. I get pumped when they release new music and I listen to them a lot. I can't say I love them now to the degree I did five years ago, but I also can't say that I sit around and pick apart any music as much as I used to. Their music has been helpful to me at times, and its always entertaining. I think that I'll always like Green Day, possibly always love Green Day, but there will probably come a day when I stop following news about them and things like that. That's just life.EDIT: That doesn't really sound like what's in my head. What I mean is that someday I'll probably have a family and a job and shit to do other than sit around on GDA/GDC obsessing over Green Day lyrics and tour dates and album covers and stuff. I'll most likely always listen to their music, though.
Rezurgam Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Green Day was the first band I ever really got into which was about when American Idiot was released. They will always have a special place in my heart.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Well, I hope I'll be a fan for a long time, but at this point I really can't predict that.
Sanah Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I've been a diehard fan for at least 12 years now, and I know that I will never stop caring about them. They've done too much for me.
Juan Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I've been a diehard fan for at least 12 years now, and I know that I will never stop caring about them. They've done too much for me.yeah, you're a sureshot honey
Dookie93 Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Every time I listen to Green Day I feel like I can take on the world, and I believe that they will be my favorite band forever. Green Day fan's are so cool and why would I wanna give all that up?
chewychorizo Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I will probably always listen to Green Day, but i'm not as obessed as i was. And they're not really my favourite band anymore, but i still love 'em.
Peter. Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Well, 15 years of love and i have a feeling it will stay this way for a while
Juan Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 I doubt it. I've already lost a lot of interest.Mad love for you still

The Disappearing Boy Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 If I'm so pissed then why I still have perfect grammar?fail
chewychorizo Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 Haha i never actually noticed that Okay back on topic.
rage-love-life Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 I've been a fan for about 2 years and I hope to be a fan for the long haul, but it could change. But they would always be special to me. I mean, AI was the album that got me into about half the music I listen to today, so I'll always stay a fan. Not as obsessed as I was before, but still a fan.
Ila Reto Posted April 19, 2009 Posted April 19, 2009 i'm in for the long run here, i feel that even though i've been an offical fan for only 3 & 1/2 years, i've stood the test of time. It never felt right to be picked on, shot down and "they're gone and old, listen to better music" from day 1. i questioned myself as a fan right before my teenie stage ended, got into the old stuff and it's been a wonderful ride discovering one album to the next. plus side projects, and now all this new hype. to me it's like the band never went away for 4/5 years. but yea, my kids will be watching me listening to green day and watching old videos just as i watched my dad watching Ozzy Ozbourne, Elvis, The Beatles and Kiss. and they'll all have the same reaction i did: "20 years ago? my parents listen to such old music!". And my husband will have to deal with it too, having posters in our room hahah. aahh im overly tired, sorry for the ramble. But yea, im a long-time fan.
