sparky32 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 In the bay area where I live, there was a radio show called The Woody Show that used to run 6Am-10PM in the morning:http://www.live105.com/pages/73921.phpThe host decided to treat or give the listeners a 30 sec unreleased sample of a Green Day song, to sort of promote the band and give listeners something to look forward to from Green Day. Unfortunately, this did not bold too well with either the higher ups or the record company involved with Green Day. Either way, the result was the show being canceled. Pretty much, they were fired with no severance in an instant. You guys ever heard about this or what do you guys think about this?
Jaymee!! Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 haha oh shit!Warner is run by a bunch of clit heads anyway.
Greenday_Aussie Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Um, so they played that clip that was released this week and got fired for it..Then why are we allowed to download it?
sparky32 Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Um, so they played that clip that was released this week and got fired for it..Then why are we allowed to download it?I guess during the time, it was "unreleased" meaning the world "officially" did not hear it public until that time. Sort of shame, they actually spent some time on the show promoting Green Day's new album and this is the result.
Greenday_Aussie Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Fucking Warner, blow me. Who am I talking to?
Radioactive1 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Fuuck, thats not a thing to cancel the show for. Bit OTT I think lol.
Rezurgam Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 They were fired on April Fools Day. So it's kind of old news. Still though, it is bullshit for getting fired for trying to help.
sparky32 Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Fuuck, thats not a thing to cancel the show for. Bit OTT I think lol. What's more fucked is the host's wife is 7 months pregnant with his first child. So now he has no job or insurance for that coming up...
Greenday_Aussie Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 What Warner wants, they get. What would you say to the radio station to make them fire those guys?
sparky32 Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 They were fired on April Fools Day. So it's kind of old news. Still though, it is bullshit for getting fired for trying to help.Well, many people right now are still unaware they are fired. Many for a while believed it was all a big prank until it became official. I didn't realize it until only the same loop of songs were playing in the mornings now. I just hope people don't associate Green Day with a group of people losing their jobs.
mplsloseroftheyear Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 thats fucked up. one of the guys on the show has a 7 month pregnant wife too. what a bunch of bullshit.
Nobody_Likes_You Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 thats fucked up. one of the guys on the show has a 7 month pregnant wife too. what a bunch of bullshit. This shit makes me sad.
chatnoir Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Ok, besides, that of course the whole idea of intellectual property with all its consequences is questionable - how stupid can people be? If these guys didn`t know better, than they were probably at the wrong job making a radio show. Still I think, that firing should always be the last of all consequences, it sounds exaggerating. But we don`t really know, what happened in detail, maybe they have been warned explicitely before.
captain peroxide Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Fuuck, thats not a thing to cancel the show for. Bit OTT I think lol.Warner's never been known to respond to anything in a rational and balanced way, so no surprises here. Sucks for the guys who ran the show though.
Kryssi. Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 That's worse than this shit that happened with Wossy and Russell Brand last year. The fuck is wrong with them?!
Hermione Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Harsh! Shitty old Warner again I suppose, or it could just be the people running the radio station being worried and getting in there before Warner kicked up a fuss. Either way, a ridiculous over-reaction to something that, in the end, probably would benefit Green Day more than harm them.
Daughter.of.Rage.and.Love Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 That's stupid.Come on, firing people because they played 30 seconds of something that'd be released in a couple of days anyway? Warner brightened up some people's lifes again :/
