Ila Reto Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 i for one have never even heard of it, and all of a sudden this person's all "trust me im from the GD street team". sounds fishy. it's not the IC or any forum (i asked them), and i've been on the adeline street team which has leaked nothing about the 2009 album.any ideas?
Juan Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 It does exist, all those banners in people's sig are from the street team (I think)
Ila Reto Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 oh, okay. well would somebody please explain what it is and how to join it?

Guest LusciousZ Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 i don't know shit about the street team. i didn't sign up because i don't understand why they would have a street team in the first place. do they really need one?
Ila Reto Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 yea why do they want my address and both house and cell numbers? will they have to call us for some reason? i'd prefer my numbers to be unlisted but they wont let me join if i dont put something down.

It's just part of the form. Most all street teams ask for them. It's also for them to contact you, should you table at a show for them or pass out fliers, so they can keep in touch at the show. Just put your number down and don't worry about it, I promise they won't give it out.

depardu42 Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 ^Yeah, they'll do that too. It kind of slipped my mind though, since I no longer have a cell phone.
krankey Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 thanks but what exactly does a street team do? like now that i signed up do i have to meet a quota of some sort?A street team promotes the band, the new record, contests or whatever is up with them, are they playing at some place, let people now whats up with the band, share the music, give out stickers or somting at the shows or in your town. Im two street teams for a band. (me and my friend had one at first, then we where askt to take over the street team sweden as well for the band) it's a nice way to get kontakts and new friends. But to be honest, Green day don't need a Street team really.
chatnoir Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I am sceptical about the whole street team idea. They are supposed to do things, people usually get paid for like promoting the band for free (more or less, but anyway there is no regular paying). So, it is a jobkiller and a bit exploitative, too. Of course fans promote their band anyway, but it shouldn`t be organized and used as a free promoting section by the big record companies. It might be different, when it comes to smaller bands, though, who cannot afford promotion.
Katarina. Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I don't sign up, cuz I don't see the point why GD needs one xDAnd.. IF there would be any exciting Green Day news we haven't heard before,I'm sure it will end up here on GDC and GDA as soon as possible
Guest TwoDollarMellie Posted January 20, 2009 Posted January 20, 2009 I think the only Green Day street team is the one that was posted up here (but it isn't really exclusively for Green Day though, so it isn't exactly a GD street team).I haven't heard of any others. It's possible the person you're talking to could be referring to a fan-made street time (like a myspace or facebook page?).
Ila Reto Posted January 20, 2009 Author Posted January 20, 2009 ^ i tried asking but they never got back to me. now this official street team that the link provided, would they get any updates before GDA and the IC? hm...
