Thanks to sharon mitchell for this tidbit. She posted it in the news... but I wanted to see it here to discuss.

Coachella lineup rumors: Green Day, No Doubt, Replacements, et al.

We should be getting the lineup soon for this year’s 10th annual Coachella festival, which will take place April 17-19 in the desert outside of Palm Springs, but why not do a little speculating first?

The Jan. 17 issue of Billboard, citing “trustworthy intelligence,” says Green Day will use the fest to return to live performance after more than three years away. Also mentioned as likely performers: No Doubt, the Red Hot Chili

As i said on GDA

At this point, it's just rumor. I usually don't like posting rumors because I know people will start planning a trip to California to attend Coachella, with no guarantee of the band even being there. Let's continue to wait for confirmation, and as soon as we hear of any date being official - rest assured that we'll post it up right away.

but it's interesting none-the-less. Here's hoping that something comes out of it.

we will see if it's just rumor ... i'm really curious!!

Hehe, same here.

It's still awesome, though

Green Day, No Doubt and the Red Hot Chili Peppers? That would be a pretty sexy lineup.

RHCP are on indefinite hiatus, so don't expect them to play.

Yeah I read somewhere recently that they've been working secretly with Justice and Paul Oakenfold-probably just a rumour though. Anthony is too busy with little Everly these days.

Oh nice....

All these tours...they have to be in America only. I wish they'd tour Australia soon.

I even wished Foxboro Hot Tubs to come tour Australia.

go green day, play at a random festival that ive never heard of!

You've not heard of Coachella?

You've not heard of Coachella?

I haven't heard of it either..

but it's cool to hear those rumours, even if there's no chance I'll ever be able to go

IF its tue at least it means we should definitely get to hear some new material then, if not before, and that is THE most exciting thing!!!

My friend lives near their I will need to e-mail her and tell her to go (with a video camera) :D

In the dessert, right? Sounds like QOTSA's homefield

Nevertheless, it's very interesting, but opening cold in a festival is not a wise decision, if they play keep eyes open for 2-3 warm-up shows

Oh my I didn't notice the date, you're right :woot:

I didn't think it was really a Green Day type of festival, based on my very very limited of knowledge of it, but I hope it's true!

Didn't green day played Reading before releasing American Idiot

I doubt the record will be out by then (i do expect the single though)

But if they do play it, that means a taster of the tour's setlist and debut of new songs (also the after mentioned warm-up shows, because I doubt they play a festival playing cold)

You could say I'm excited

^Yeah they did, oh god it would be SUCH a tease to hear a couple of songs live first, or worse to know they'd played them live and I hadn't heard them! I really hope it's true.

Coachella is a big enough festival, I'm sure it'll be bootleged
