hardtoconcentrate Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I thought we were needing some Song of the week action so I decided to go for 'Castaway' from Warning.I love this song, especially live and here is one of my favourite performances;
Hermione Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Great choice Before I say anything else, I must ask, did Billie Joe have something dirty on his mind when he wrote the line "going at it alone"? I know I'm not the only one who's amused by this
Agija Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 It used to be one of my favourite songs. :]Castaway is such and awesome song, the lyrics always makes me smile.
Rita Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Nice choice, I love this song! It is so good that even my friends who don't like Green Day liked it.
Haydée Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 what a weird thing that this song hasn't been choosed before anyways; the song is amazing, I'll love to hear it live someday
Agija Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Nice choice, I love this song! It is so good that even my friends who don't like Green Day liked it.That's so true. My friend hates Green Day, but Castaway is one of her favourite songs. She was even obsessed with it about a year ago.
greendaytone Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I love this song. It was my favourite song from Warning when it came out. I was at uni and used to sing along (and in time  ) in my room at the top of my voice all the time! So much so all my housemates learnt it as well. Great example of an optimistic song Green Day song for a pessimistic theme (i think that makes sense...)
sarita Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Love Billie's interaction with the crowd during this video..Great song. One of my favorites off of Warning
J'net Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Great choice Before I say anything else, I must ask, did Billie Joe have something dirty on his mind when he wrote the line "going at it alone"? I know I'm not the only one who's amused by this Again, Hermione, again! You read my mind (or I guess I could say, we read Billie's mind).Something you may not know about me is that I can perform all the Green Day songs, all the FoxTubs songs, and a lot of the PHGP songs (well - and lots of other songs, too) in sign language. Whenever I'm practicing this one - if I happen to be alone - I will sometimes substitute the sign for "male-masturbation" instead of the signs for "I go-on alone." That's just for my own amusement Back to this song - I love it when he does the awesome voice on "takin' back what's mine!"
greendaytone Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 If i could describe this song in one word it would probably be... 'bouncy'
Starbug Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 This is one of my favorite GD songs, hands down. It reminds me of me I love it, top 5 favorite, ever. Great choice The opening guitar riffs always make my heart jump a bit cause I get excited when I hear it lol I'm a dork
DeJennsitized Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 One of my favourites. I love that performance of Castaway, with the maraccas Bass line is awesome, I had a go at learning it on my own bass. Sounds crap compared to Mike's. And as for the lyrics, well, yet another example of how amazing Warning is lyrically.
iLozza! Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Great choice Before I say anything else, I must ask, did Billie Joe have something dirty on his mind when he wrote the line "going at it alone"? I know I'm not the only one who's amused by this what do you mean by dirty hermy?(now I sound like an under educated 12 year-old,which I am)Anyways,I love this song!Definitely one of my favourite solos. It's just got a really vibrant sort of tune, which i like.
Micky Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Probably it's my favourite song of WarningI love it, great choice
Radioactive1 Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 One of my favourites I always feel like skipping down the street when I listen to it. lol
Starbug Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 One of my favourites I always feel like skipping down the street when I listen to it. lolYes, it's definitely one of those mood improving songs for me. It's so bouncy and catchy and... Oh, I just love it. I'll stop gushing for now
thisisAB Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I hate saying this to Green Day fans, but Warning is my least favourite album by them. I can't stand listening to Misery, and Minority is overrated. (no offence, my opinion) I do like the title track a lot! It's my second favourite song off the album. On the other hand... Castaway is my favourite song off the album, and I love the song!!!! I love the tone of the guitar on this song, the intro makes me JUMP! and the bass line/solo is crazy! I like the lyrics/meaning of the song too. I was thinking Scattered for next song of the week...
Boston Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I over-listened to it a few years ago when I got Warning. Its a really good song, obviously.
Ila Reto Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 lol castaway...i remember when i was first getting into my warning album, it just so happened that they played Castaway (the movie) for like 3 weeks strait. so i'd be singing "ccasssttt-awwaayyy" when my dad was trying to watch it. lol"spontanious combustion of the corners of my mind, im leaving in the lurch and i'm taking back what's mine"and "im riding on the night train and driving stolen cars, testing my nerves out on the boulevard"are my favorite parts of the song. i also used to be able to play that bass solo at one point...i should re-teach myself that again.
ifmemoryserves Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Great choice Before I say anything else, I must ask, did Billie Joe have something dirty on his mind when he wrote the line "going at it alone"? I know I'm not the only one who's amused by this haha. I had never noticed that. Now I'll think that every time I hear this song.
The Disappearing Boy Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 Minority is overrated.that is their best song!! but castaway has some of their best lyrics.
midlfecrysis Posted October 14, 2008 Posted October 14, 2008 I love this song too. It is a happy song. It just cheers me up.
