jadedghiacand Posted August 12, 2008 Posted August 12, 2008 firstly, I wanted to say that on one of the Top 10 of everything books, green day is at #2 for most profitable tours of 2005 - (#1 being U2) - it said that GD raked in $140 million in 2005 alone, but U2 got $150 million.also, green day's massive mudfight at woodstock 94 appeared in a book displaying greatest moments of 1990s.
Jose Luis Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I found this:http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2005/12/the_top_ten_tou.html
DeJennsitized Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Awesome. I have a big book, I think it's called the Guinness Book of British Hit Singles and Albums 2006, where it gives you an alphabetical list of all the artists to ever make it into the charts since the 1950's and their single and album discography. Anyway, they have a top 500 list of artists based on weeks they've been in the charts. Green Day is at number 196, or something like that. I thought that was pretty good, considering in 2005 they were number 400-and-something.Wonder what number they're at this year.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Interesting! And considering U2 charged an arm and a leg for tix. Cheapest one here was $90 and Green Day was $33. What a bargain.
DeJennsitized Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 So we all agree that U2 should be disqualified, and therefore Green Day should take Number One w00t.
Guest billy024 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 my dad's a big U2 fan and he was quite disappointed for the tickets being well over $100 dollars.that explains why they made so much money.i still love you Paul, Larry, Adam, and Dave.
Boston Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 So we all agree that U2 should be disqualified, and therefore Green Day should take Number One w00t. No.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Tickets were expensive enough...Green Day tickets?no I dont think they were at all
MusicalDeviant Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Shit. Homies be rollin' in dough. Joey, Jakob, Stella, and Frankito will never have to work. Ever. They'll be set forever.
Guest TwoDollarMellie Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Hey that's awesome.I'm glad that good bands topped the list. If Mariah Carey or some rap artists did instead, I would be pissed. And as for the GD ticket prices, someone on this forum once said that it cost 45 dollars. I haven't seen the prices when they were touring, so I'm not sure.
Mommy's Little Nightmare Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 And as for the GD ticket prices, someone on this forum once said that it cost 45 dollars. I haven't seen the prices when they were touring, so I'm not sure.It depends on which tour. The stadium leg of the AI tour cost more than the arena leg, but they still weren't too bad. I paid $40 (And that's including the tax and shipping and stuff from Ticketmaster) for the arena leg, and $55 (Also including tax and shipping from Ticketmaster) for the stadium leg of the tour. Their tickets were really reasonable. Hell, they're fucking cheap compared to alot of artists. Especially for a band as big as they were during that tour. They could have charged an arm and a leg, and they'd still sell. They didn't, though. They once said that they'd never let their ticket prices get ridiculous, and that they'd always be affordable, and they've stuck by that.
one8two Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 That is a shit load of money considering they charged nothing compared to artists that played in the same arenas (With even smaller stage setups i may add)
Kleptomaniac Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 mostly cause of milton keynes (it was in 05 right?)
Radioactive1 Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 mostly cause of milton keynes (it was in 05 right?)Ah, yeah, good point! And yes it was =]
parinaz Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 so how much did any of them take do u think? how many dollars?
waninko Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 ..I wonder how much of those money that ended up in the pockets of Reprise.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 mostly cause of milton keynes (it was in 05 right?)they were only two shows, I dont think Milton Keynes brought in the majority of the money.
farley drexel hatcher Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 Shit. Homies be rollin' in dough. Joey, Jakob, Stella, and Frankito will never have to work. Ever. They'll be set forever. They won't ever have to work, but I doubt their parents would let them sit around doing nothing I'd be surprised if they did.
**nobodylikesyou** Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 ^in addition to that I would be surprised if they wanted to sit around and do nothing.good thing is they can do whatever they want. Wish I could!!!
