I'm sure we've all noticed a difference in Green Day live from 1994 and Green Day live in 2000; as well as Green Day live in 2000 and Green Day live in 2005. Every era has it's differences in live performance, yet all carry an energy completely indescribable.

What's your favorite part of each live era?

Least favorite part?

Personally, I enjoyed the Warning performances, such as Goat Island.

I haven't heard much live stuff other than the AI era so i'll choose that.

I've been to 4 live AI concerts, and they were amazing. So I'll pick that. =]

i Like Dookie Insomniac and Nimrod because of the differences between the CDs, each CD is special to me...

and Warning because of The live shows (Goat Island as 'community kid' (sorry i don't know your name:() said above

and American Idiot because that's when I started listening to them and the Milton Keynes show was amazing...

I think the Dookie era had a manic energy that they haven't had since. Tho I'm glad Billie Joe is not doing the drugs that were contributing to that energy anymore!

I can't answer this question because I haven't actually seen their live performances.

goat island is the best. so warning.

I chose Dookie/Insomniac, because I liked the fact that they seemed to just play any song that came into their head. They also seemed way crazier then. :D

The Nimrod ones were really good as well...when he held up the Ernie doll and made him clap

I loved Green Day on Goat Island, especially the interaction between Billie and the crowd.

I haven't really seen that many pre-Dookie performances, except Who Wrote Holden Caulfield, and a few from when they played at Pinole.

American Idiot era was really different from the others...more structured, I would say, and, like Billie said, more of an event.

So, really, they're all good and special in their own way.

Well I've never seen them live, but I've watched every live performance that's on Youtube. I love watching them so much , and I enjoy all the eras in different ways.

The early gigs are so fun and cheerful, DIY music at it's best. Dookie/Insomniac is raw, crazy and sometimes angry. Nimrod is probably my favourite era, a little bit of flair and showmanship was just creeping in, but still with the attitude, and every concert was unpredictable.

By Warning the performance was a bit more organised, and the concert 'traditions' were firmly established. I think this era is my least favourite. It seems like the showmanship is there, but not used to it's full potential. Still awesome, but by 2002 it was a little stale. And closing the concert with Macy's Day Parade instead of Good Riddance is just wrong on so many levels :D.

American Idiot took the showmanship to it's full potential, spectacular. And although I prefer watching the older more spontaneous gigs, I think the more organised style suits the album - the idea was for it to be the absolute best possible spectacle of a show.

warning era.

they did alot of interactive stuff with audience.

they had alot of energy and weren't ranting about politics.

the whole band was more involved, instead of just having billie in the limelight like previous times.

I can't remember much of the Pop Disaster show I went to so I voted American Idiot. Those shows were amazing.

the same here.

i think AI era was more mature, more organized and more spiritual.

i love tampa 1991 as one of their best performances among their old shows.

I was only about 4 at the time but the Dookie/Insomniac era, those are my 2 fave albums because it is generally punk rock which is my favourite genre! It's aggressive, fast and AMAZING! Plus they could play smaller venues back then so it would have been an intimate crowd!

Oh god I have no idea. I love the goat island preformans.

I pick: Dookie-,Warning and AI-erea

I watched almost every concert which is available here to download. I enjoy every single concert and I love them all. Its fun to watch it. I love the Woodstock Concert from the Dookie Era, I love the Goat Island gig from the warning era, some cool concerts from the Isomniac era etc. But in spite of everything I had to vote, so I voted for American Idiot, cause its still my fav album and fav era (cause I became a fan at this era and its the only one I apperceived).

Mmm hmm, oh Tampa 1991  so much to love.

I also love Little Rock 1991, Cricketers 1993, Phoenix 1994, Filmore 1997, both Astoria gigs from 1998, Bizarre Festival 2001, CBGBs 2001, um yeah I could go on forever :D

Everyone, I recommend you watch every single Green Day concert available

Most people here haven't seen any non-AI Green Day live (excluding videos, which I don't think count).

Hey! Videos are better than nothing :P. Although of course I wish I could have seen them live, in any era.

Why the hell is the best era, Nimrod (of course) in last place?

HAS to be American idiot. Sure, those smaller venues felt more intimate.

I don't want intimacy, I want EPICNESS.

And Milton Keynes was just that. :D

yay for the era of chubby billie

Yes, nothing like the same set over and over and over again, with all moves orchestrated to a "T" (I don't really know if that's the saying or not).
