.:Whatsername:. Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I chose "The Waiting." I unno, sounds cool. Either that or The Razorbacks.
Starbug Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Ayuh, I'm a Razorback fan muhself. I love that song...
Fuzz Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Can't choose The Razorbacks. Someone on this forum already has a band with that namehttp://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/ind...showtopic=52016There's a couple decent names there. Can't decide yet. The Hallow Lies Maybe just 'Hallow Lie' ?Sound of HysteriaI likeFaith and MiseryI also likeCigarettes and ValentinesAlso sounds good, though kind of reminds me of Bullet for My Valentine.
VirginiaFLA Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 I chose Last Ride In. Sounds like one of those catchy band names ...

Someone on this forum already has a band with that namehttp://www.greendaycommunity.org/Forum/ind...showtopic=52016I was afraid of that. I'll have to remove it from the poll. Any suggestions on what to replace it with Andres?
BadgerLALA Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Hmm, I like the one "Sound of Hysteria". It sound so punk, you know. I think it would be cool if you called the band Guys of Suburbia.
MrGreenDayUK Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Uh, I'm pretty sure it's 'Hollow Lies'. What the fuck is a hallow lie anyway?
Guest Phoebe. Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Please don't have a name stemmed from someone else's lyrics. It degrades your band to both people who know the lyric and know it's just a Green Day line, and to those who will inevitabley find out. Do yourself a favour and choose something original. Not that Hallow Lies isn't original, it's just innaccurate.God knows you might have the bollocks to write your own music one day, and you don't want Green Day taking all the credit, do you?

Still, I reckon a lyric is better than 'Green Date'.Edit- Armageddon Flame sounds like a death metal band, you'd end up with a load of metal people at your show then calling you 'emo fags' when you starting playing Green Day.
Green Date Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 i voted cigarettes and veletines.thats an awesome band name
jose armstrong Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 i voted cigarettes and veletines.thats an awesome band nameFINALLY someone shares my opinion
Guest Phoebe. Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Can someone explain the ethics of cover bands to me?I don't get why if you can play an instrument to "Green Day", surely you can play other things of similar genre, even write your own stuff and play that, be your own band, you know. What's the motivation of playing someone else's music when you're perfectly capable of doing some yourself, that'll mean something to you, then getting recognition for it.
M1KEY Posted July 23, 2008 Author Posted July 23, 2008 There are a lot of cover bands out there for different bands, I think it just shows a passion for them personally. I love playing Green Day songs and sort of "becoming" Billie Joe in my own little way.And for those who've mentioned it, I do write my own material. I find it difficult however to get a group together to write music with. At this point, I want to get together with a few guys and play songs we all love and that people know. It would be pure fun and excitement for me. If I meet some people who want to branch out and do something original, I'm all for it. But I have a pretty full schedule as it is and for now, this seems more plausible than starting a band from scratch.Eventually I do hope to be in a band with original music. For now, I wanna try this. And it just seems appropriate to name a Green Day cover band after a Green Day song or lyric. I don't want to gain success from Green Day's hard work, I want to have fun doing something I'm passionate about.

Jack96 Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 Id say Letterbomb or The Hallow Lies. (I voted 4 Letterbomb.)
Hermione Posted July 23, 2008 Posted July 23, 2008 What an awesome idea. If your cover of Pieces Of Truth is anything to go by, I think it'll be great. It's good that there are Green Day cover bands, it means loads of people who aren't lucky enough to have seen Green Day in concert get the chance to experience their music in a live setting. Plus fun times for the cover band themselves. Kudos to you!Last Ride In FTW, I really like that name, and it had better win
