woven_basketcase Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 EW just named 'American Idiot' the sixth New Classic in the new issue this week. My scanner won't connect to the computer, so this is what it says:"Sex Pistols. Punk didn't truly go mainstream until these three snotty, snarling post-adolescents broke through to become arena-filling icons; and with songs like "Boulevard Of Broken Dreams," they proved that a little maturity can be a good thing." (There were no pictures or anything.)Yeah, not too big but hey.I thought some of you might like this.
Towers Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 idk AI is ok but it's not GD's best. Personal favs: Kerplunk! and Warning
Laura33 Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I was listening to American idiot the other day I like to listen to it all the way through from time to time and there is no disputing the fact that it is an amazing album. It may not be people 'personal favs' but seriously, listen to the lyrics, I still get shivers listening to Jesus of Suburbia

NoVaCaInE! Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 American Idiot is one of my favourites But i guess some people wont admit to that because they fear people saying "You only like GD for/since american idiot oh noesss" American Idiot's what introduced me to Green Day, so im very glad for its existence.
radionowhere Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 AI introduced a lot of young people to GD...especially 13 year olds who weren't even born when Dookie was released. I think that's a good thing.
Hermione Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I was listening to American idiot the other day I like to listen to it all the way through from time to time and there is no disputing the fact that it is an amazing album. It may not be people 'personal favs' but seriously, listen to the lyrics, I still get shivers listening to Jesus of SuburbiaOh yesssss. I don't think I could ever get tired of it. Couldn't care less if there's some silly people who say it's too mainstream or pop or not like 'proper Green Day' or whatever the fuck. It's just another amazingly fantastic Green Day album as far as I'm concerned.
FilmAdaptation Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 I seldom listen to AI, because even after four years, it's hard to not skip over the few I heard millions of times.

BabsBurnoutGirl Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Saw this...Im wondering why Dookie wasn't mentioned too - there were some artists mentioned twice in the article AI introduced a lot of young people to GD...especially 13 year olds who weren't even born when Dookie was released. I think that's a good thing.I know thats true for me...
**kookai** Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 AI is what got me into Green Day in the first place, but since buying all their albums, my fav is Kerplunk and Warning....Thanks for posting, I enjoyed that little news
Boston Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 Thanks for the post. It certainly will be a classic, like it or not.
Sole Posted June 21, 2008 Posted June 21, 2008 AI introduced a lot of young people to GD...especially 13 year olds who weren't even born when Dookie was released. I think that's a good thing.I listened to Green Day before AI but I was young and didn't really know exactly who they were. Then AI came out and I started listening more. I think I was in 5th grade? haha. I'm surprised Dookie wasn't in this article.
