Parley Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 I don't think this is an invasion of privacy as he doesn't live there anymore. *******************************************************************November 16, 2007Rock Star’s Home Finally Finds BuyerIt looks as though what I have been referring to as the “Green Day” house finally sold last month. The home, at 70 Roble Road in Oakland (below), went for $1,550,000, according to latest “homes sold” data — less than its asking price of $1,699,000. But it has been on the market since at least May when I reviewed it. (review follows)**************************************************************May 7, 2007Oakland: It Looks Like a Rock Star’s Pad… Oh Wait It IsMaybe it was the leopard-print carpet on the stairs that gave it away, or the $20,000 TV, or more likely the state-of-the art sound system and the three secured metal gates that guard this half acre property. But when I found that that this $1,699,000 mid-century modern house is apparently owned by Green Day’s bass player I wasn’t entirely surprised.Generally the house is very spread out and the layout is not instinctive. There’s a lot a space, both inside and out. There are large living areas and a master suite with and a hip bathroom (nice tub). Other rooms and bathrooms are fine if not immensely inspiring. There’s an au-pair apartment and a jungle gym in the yard - ‘cos even rock stars have kids. The views from the garden and huge decked area (I imagine lots of outdoor entertaining and wild rock n’ roll parties) are good, but a freeway directly in one’s line of vision spoils the effect (and provides the constant thrum of traffic noise).Privacy is pretty much guaranteed, as you would expect in a celebrity’s home. Roble Road is a narrow, twisting street set in a wooded area in upper Rockridge. Driving home on dark nights might be an adventure. There are three additional adjacent lots that are up for sale if you want to splash out to ensure even more seclusion. http://sfbay.redfin.com/blog/2007/05/oakla...wait_it_is.html--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fuzz Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 Yeah, got a link for that last night. Seems like a pretty boring place, but still kinda cool to see it.
The Disappearing Boy Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 i thought it seemed cool actually.
mbk Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 It seemed kinda not right to post pictures of Mike's house, even if a former house, on GDA, so I didn't, but sure, I looked at it. I originally saw the pics back in May when it went up for sale. It's a nice house!
jjones Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 May spelled backwards is Yam... which is close to Yum.
tres_cool Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 thats that ugliest bath tub I have ever seen...and my dad's a plumber so I see a lot of those..
Guest 16PaperLanterns Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 It's really an ugly house. Too many sharp edges.
samdarko Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 is that a...bathtub??? It looks soooo uncomfortable.
Sara Armstrong Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 only in california can an ugly house go for 1 million.
Parley Posted November 18, 2007 Author Posted November 18, 2007 Leopard print carpet That must've really attracted buyers. That's the most painful looking bathtub I've ever seen. It must be designed for people who want to get out of the tub fast.
bat-chen Posted November 18, 2007 Posted November 18, 2007 thats that ugliest bath tub I have ever seen...and my dad's a plumber so I see a lot of those..I agree. the tub looks very ugly... all the house looks very wierd.
Laura33 Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Like many people, I saw the pics back in May. And like a lot of you I think the bathtub is fugly. Nothing says 'classy' like a leopard print carpet.
FJ Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Random fact that no-one will find interesting:In the UK, it's currently cheaper to buy a plot of land and build a house from scratch than it is to go and buy one you can move straight into!
TotalBasketCase13 Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I don't mind the modernist looking houses visually, but to me that doesn't look like it would be a very comfortable home to live in.
Rita Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 I actually like the way the house looks outside.Haha, and I didn't even get that was tub when I first looked at it.Looks so weird...
Marc. Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Looks pretty sweet, i reckon... go Mike and his designing skillz.

FruscianteForPrez08 Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 That is truly an awkward looking tub...

Silly things like that just piss me off.Anyways, living in that kind of house would still get you some badge!
**nobodylikesyou** Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 that tub looks like it was picked up at containers & more and just set on the floor. Ew.
*withoutadoubt* Posted November 19, 2007 Posted November 19, 2007 Compared to my tub, that one is awesome! Am I the only one who would love to fill it up with hot, hot water with loads of bubbles and sit there for hours burning candles and listening to my mp3??? And the faucet - how cool is that??? I can dream, right? I'm more of a traditional person myself, but that house is cool! Who wouldn't want a leopard print carpet - must hide all the stains, lol!
