communitykid Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 A while back a friend of mine and I were talking about Green Day, and he suggested that almost every song on a Green Day CD is the same. Meaning that everything on Dookie sounds the same, and everything on Warning sounds the same, etc.. I made the argument that it's not possible to say that Hitchin' A Ride, Take Back, Good Riddance, King For A Day, and Redundant sound anything a like(all songs from Nimrod). The argument went further, but I have to go watch TV. Whatcha think?
spark in the night Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 would he feel better if Billie sucked helium on half the album?what a douche..no offense
randomness Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 yeh i know someone that said that "i'm bored of Green Day now all their songs sound the same" having listened to like BOBD, WMUWSE and AI anyone that says GD's songs sound the same hasn't listened to them enough obviously.
spark in the night Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 would he feel better if Billie sucked helium on half the albumjust thinking....Billie with a chipmunk voice would be the zaniest most hilarious thing in the whole wide world
Hitman Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Well, no offence to Green Day, but power chords can only go so far.
randomness Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 just thinking....Billie with a chipmunk voice would be the zaniest most hilarious thing in the whole wide worldhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2IWc9iEAPI
Hitman Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 But, I doubt Musical Greatness is what Green Day has ever strived for.
.Spiffy. Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 not all green day songs sound the same.....but each album has its own "sound". like when a song comes on the radio, before ive recognized the song, im picturing the album cover.its like "okay...this is american idiot..." or "i hear some dookie playing"so he has a point, but you also have a point
spark in the night Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2IWc9iEAPI lmao!oh wait wasn't there one with GD on jimmy kimmel?
Sunshine2385 Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 would he feel better if Billie sucked helium on half the album?what a douche..no offenseNow that be a sight
Fuzz Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I've heard people say that kind of stuff too. And i think it's the same as me saying that every Creed, Evanescence or NOFX song sounds the same to me. I'm sure to their fans they can tell the different styles apart, to me they sound a lot alike.I can tell the difference in Green Day songs, especially different albums. I would say that it's a matter of how closely you want to listen to tell the difference.
spark in the night Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Creed l-m-a-ocan you take mehh highyamurrrrractually I was thinking of Egos and Icons which made me spew laughter
marie1986 Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 nimrod songs sound nothing alikeeither warning or american idiotmaybe kerplunk or 1039
Jewels! Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Well, no offence to Green Day, but power chords can only go so far.True.Still.I think every Green Day song is special in its own little way.
spark in the night Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 I think the kid meant the voice sounded the samewell duh, these guys only record their album in a matter of dayspuberty takes years
Viva La Junkpile Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 That's a ridiculous statement to make. Green Day make ALBUMS, which means the songs have "flow" into one another nicely-- unlike Shenanigans (which is why it's a COMPILATION album). But none of the songs are alike.
communitykid Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 I think the kid meant the voice sounded the samewell duh, these guys only record their album in a matter of dayspuberty takes yearsNah. He was mostly referring to guitar. Power chords can get redundant, but it's the way that Billie chooses to create catchy riffs.
Relavar Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Kind of a pointless argument for an individual who probably hasn't listened to all the records first.
Sunshine2385 Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Has he just heard dookie and warning? Or has the listened to the other albums as well?
FilmAdaptation Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Oh boy, Creed is so incredibly horrible.
*withoutadoubt* Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2IWc9iEAPI Ok, that just made me laugh way too much. I think I need some serious sleep. Thanks for the laugh Kelly.Heh, the Holiday one -
communitykid Posted October 16, 2007 Author Posted October 16, 2007 Has he just heard dookie and warning? Or has the listened to the other albums as well?No he's a fan of Green Day. He just said it for sake of an argument.
Pan. Posted October 16, 2007 Posted October 16, 2007 Your friend obviously needs to get himself a new pair of ears.I honestly think each Green Day album has a unique sound... of course there's obviously going to be "similarities" -- you can't expect Billie to change his frickin' voice in every record; he's always going to sound the same.
