When i was looking around i noticed that so many people just say what they like about any celebrity, I mean so many people dont relise that green day have their feelings to, like in biab, you see mike crying about fame ( or fake crying), how so many people want so much from him and girls saying they want to marry him. Bj tryng to get away from the media just for 1 hour.

What are your thoughts on this?

na he wasn't because billie was talking bout fan pressure.

Yeah, he was just fucking around.

But I'm really big on giving them their privacy. You'll notice with the new GDA FAQ I wrote up, I mention their privacy a lot.

If they are our in the public, like at shows or whatever, then I think they are totally aware they are going to be swamped with people. Even I was screming like a little school girl when I saw all three of them walking into the arena at the NY Giants Staduim show last September. But it really really bugs me when some people push it to far, like always bugging for their email address', wanting to go visit them at home or whatever.

I think we as fans need to give them as much room for their own private life as possible. They owe us nothing at all, and the time we get to see them in person at concerts should be more than enough for us to ask from them.

I can honestly say that if i saw billie joe in the street with his wife and kids i would think ok he is with his family and just think hey i just saw billie joe thats cool. and walk straight by him and respect his privacy.

But if it looked like it was a alright moment i would say hi or something.

i can just imagine it.

I respect their privacy...if I have the chance to meet them it would be like in backstage passes or something like that but not invading their privacy

Posted

I feel sorry for Green Day because all the time they are getting hasled and stuff by media and reporters and stuff... It would suck to be famous... :(

Posted

I guess it's hard for some people to realise that they are real persons.

It's more like they were some superheros or just not.. really.. real people.

Posted

they definately deserve their privacy.. but it's never going to happen.

Posted

wtf

you cant honestly say that if you saw tre walking down the street that you wouldnt talk to him

"oh woh its tre! whoops better not point, id be invading his privacy"

no way

im not going to go and hunt them down on myspace or find their home address or anything

but...

i will wait around after a show for up to 10 hours to meet them

thats not privacy invasion... is it?!

Quote BJ: "We want to be the biggest rock band in the world" - well, be careful what you wish for!

I'm sure they knew this was part of the package - they're none of them young or stupid, and they had it all before with Dookie. What they wouldn't have had is the Internet stuff, I suppose, and that constitutes a really insidious invasion of privacy, but then again, it's part of the 'information age of hysteria' that Billie wrote so incisively about.

I think it's a wave they're capable of riding out, although it must be horrible - I would fucking hate it; I can't imagine it's easy to 'walk alone' like you need to, if you have to have a gigantic bodyguard with you all the time. And the hormone-stoked mania of teenage girls is something to be well scared of - I know, I was one!

Having said all that, when the fire dies down, they'll be left with a huge community of people who have a great affection for them, and will always hold a good thought for them, because they've been part of their lives, and provided an anthem for their important moments. You see it with all the stars of bygone days, and it's the nice aftertaste of fame - loyalty.

And for all the teenies who are giving their hearts to Billie Joe right now, someday in the future when they have their own Extraordinary Guy, they'll look back very fondly on the guy who was the dress rehearsal. Because love is love, in its different degrees, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. :)

I read that,I totally Agree, but i dont really know what to respond with.....

Ok, let me be brief - lol! :)

I respect their privacy, like I would anyone else's; I hate it particularly when people talk about their families, wives and children of celebrities have a rough ride anyway, coping with all the repercussions of it, without the added notion of people's unwarranted attention.

I agree with Andres that whatever they do publically, and as a band, is part of showbusiness and up for grabs- publicity is part of their jobs, and they're actually participating when they do it. People shouldn't want or need more than that, but they do and they will, because it's part and parcel of fame, and it always has been.

But I think that here in GDC, we at least have the power over what goes on in our own community, and that we should act with respect; I know people will say 'they never read anything we post' - that's irrelevant. It's only partly about them, it's also about us.
