I was listening to TOYL the other night in bed, so obviously it was really quiet so i could hear the music really well. So anyway, you know at the beginning where he plays and stops twice and then says something, well i heard something else in the background. So i turned it up full vol and listen really carefully; and i heard right at the very beginning, the click track (metronome) for the song. And now i realised why he says "fuck it" or something, its because he came out of time with the click track and so just decided to play without it...

Its nothing special and im sure you've all heard it before, but ah well...

I didn't notice it when i first listened to it, but i've known he says it for months now-if you went to the GDA site and looked on the Didja Know section (or summat like that) it had it in there.

I just listened and I heard it, but I had to turn it all the way up and put my ear against the computer speaker.

Have you ever heard the term ' anorak ' ?

not really, no

I listened it since the first time I heard that song....I thought he made a mistake!

Posted

i'm pretty sure he just fucked it up two times at the beginning...turning the metronome off is like a nightmare to record with...

Posted

they always use a click track in the studio. (prime example: mike starting to record his bass line in she's a rebel in the making of the AI album) billie fucked up cos he didnt hit the high D on the G chord as well.

^Exactly.

But anybody who didnt know about the fuck part musnt really listen to that song much.

Posted

Oh wow. thatnks for that little info.

I don't know if i heard it or not. I might have heard one little click. But my speakers are shitty.

Posted

interesting.

i did not know that.

Figured that out the second time I listened to Nimrod. It isn't obvious unless you are paying attention though. One of my friends pointed it out after the first time and after that... now I hear it every time...

I think I read it in one of GDA's fact sections somewhere. Can't remember where exactly though...

I just assumed he couldn't start it fight and said 'fuck' and then did it right. But now I can hear it.

When he says it i think it sounds wicked!

I mean. . .maybe he accidently purposely does it to start the song with a bit of an edge

Posted

Yeah, I listened to it, and it is a metronome there! Bwahaha  I don't know why I found this so hilarious.. hehe..
