Scumfuc Waste Posted Friday at 05:25 PM Posted Friday at 05:25 PM Honestly, having got the CD of Shenanigans many months back, I've come to realize it's becoming one of my favourites. Not only does jt have some songs that I think are some of Green Day's best (Desensitized, You Lied, Ha Ha You're Dead), it also has some songs that are stylistically different to what the band usually does and as such interesting to hear even if they aren't favourites (Don't Wanna Fall In Love, Tired Of Waiting For You, Rotting), so I literally just can't get tired of this album. I get it's a compilation of stuff that didn't go on the other records but man. This specific compilation just seems to hit harder than other compilation albums I've heard. I think bands should do it way more often, where all the cut songs get put onto a compilation CD later. I'd love to hear that from Korn and Weezer. Honestly, a lot of people just exclude Shenanigans from their album rankings due to it being a comp, and nobody seems to talk about it much. I wish people would talk about it more. I feel kind of alone in my love for it. Do remember my other favourites are nimrod., Warning, Dookie, and American Idiot. What do you think of it? 2 Quote

I do feel like that was their best period. nimrod. was the peak of their 90s run as it was finally the first Green Day album that had some real variety, they managed to make an 18-song album where every song was great. Previously albums like Dookie and Insomniac were shorter yet still had filler songs towards the end, nimrod. broke that pattern. Warning in my opinion showed that Billie and the guys were true songwriters with an evolving style and not just California punks. It didn't really do much to keep them relevant as it didn't seem to be what people wanted, but in retrospective it needed to come out and showed us that they'd soon do something amazing in 4 years. Shenanigans is great for the reasons I already said. And American Idiot was just a complete masterpiece, one of the greatest albums of all time. There's nothing I can really say that hasn't been said. It reinvented the band and pushed them back into the mainstream without betraying their original sound or ethos. That's badass. So, I agree, those are their 4 best releases. Quote

I did still grow up on it though. American Idiot was one of (I believe it was THE) first album I ever listened to in full when I was about 11. 7 years later and I have a collection of over 300 different albums by various artists I love (10 of which are Green Day). 1 2 Quote

In the booklet it's printed in the credits with the other tracks but "spray painted" over Don't think I've ever heard anyone say they don't love Shenanigans! It's awesome 2 Quote
