I don't believe this has been posted as a thread yet, and thank you @jengd for originally posting this information in the Random Green Day News - 2025 thread. Green Day's One Eyed Bastard music video has been nominated for an MTV VMA award in the category "Best Rock." You can vote here : https://www.mtv.com/event/vma/vote/best-rock

The ceremony will be on Sunday, September 7 at 8/7c on CBS.

Lol at Coldplay being put in the Rock category of awards still to this day.. 

I also unfortunately think that, considering how big of a deal the shameless reincarnation of Linkin Park is to people and media, Green Day don't really stand a chance. Oh well..

We can try if we work hard enough! I think more people will be voting for Coldplay more due to the cheating thing that happened at one of their concerts. Since that happened, Coldplay now has more exposure, resulting in more people voting for them.

I think they’ve beaten Coldplay before and am with @Mato, what are Coldplay doing in the rock category?? I think there is no beating Linkin Park right now for sentimental reasons if nothing else, but I will be voting every day.

It used to air exclusively on MTV. Back in the day, it was the one awards show I look forward to because it felt like anything could happen. To this day, my favorite ceremony is the 1999 VMAs. Some truly wild shit happened and also what a weird lineup. You had Nsync and Britney Spears and Eminem and Snoop AND Nine Inch Nails. They just don't make shows like this anymore.

I loved it when Green Day totally owned the VMAs in 2005. Arrived in the Boulevard of Broken Dreams car, slayed in their outfits (Billie's white jacket and leather pants), won 7 of the 8 awards they were nominated for and did an awesome performance

20 years ago! As a new fan watching it was epic
