Saviors (édition de luxe) - Out May 23rd !!

I feel like the two acoustic tracks probably are demos.

After spending a few days with the new tracks, I've gotta say my initial impression still holds up.

Ballyhoo is easily the standout. It's the catchiest, feels the most polished, and just hits right. I've been listening to it nonstop.  Belushi comes in second for me. It also feels complete and the energy is great. No wonder these two were the singles.

The rest I have more mixed feelings about. Underdog is pretty good. Gives off some Trilogy or Longshot vibes, which I love. That one takes third place. I absolutely love the arrangement and overall feel of Stay Young, but that long, repetitive chorus really drags it down. If it had a stronger chorus, it might've tied for first, but as it stands, I'll place it fourth.

Then there's Fuck Off. Fun, sure, but kind of forgettable. So yeah, that's at the bottom of my list.

As for the acoustic versions... well, they sure are songs that exist.

There's a clean version of the album Tre as well, and Missing You's Fbomb has an unique edit.

Question: I've seen some people mention Underdog's different mixing and... is this something everyone can pick up on, or is it mostly noticeable to people who work with music? Honestly, they all sound pretty similar to me. But I'll admit I'm also not great at noticing that sort of thing.

Same for me. Sometimes I really wonder if I‘m stupid not to hear any difference when obviously all the others can…😅

Same here lol. Sometimes a production is really bad I'll notice it but in most cases when people are complaining about it I'm like....I thought it sounded okay 🤷🏽

Definitely not something everyone can pick up. I've been listening to Green Day for 20 years and there are things people pick up that I wouldn't in a million years. Even if i notice something or think something is different or not what I'd prefer in mixing, i could never pinpoint it in most cases.

First time i had a problem with the production was the Trilogy, specifically with Billie's vocals
Thankfully he sounds better than ever now.

It's kinda shocking how much better a mix by CLA suits Green Day compared to other mixes. Same with the American Idiot B-Sides, which were not mixed by CLA.

Ballyhoo and the acoustic version of father to a son are definitely my favorite tracks from the deluxe.  I’ll say the acoustic is better than the original, although the vocals are chopped noticeably in some parts.  I think it’s the original track with a lot of elements just taken out.  Underdog is an honorable mention.  The rest is meh to me.

I played look ma no brains after the new tracks to see how they sound different and it is definitely noticeable!  CLA definitely worked his magic.

I just got my vinyl copies of the deluxe edition (ordered from the web store) and the pink lyric book is different from the "Saviors" promotional run last year, for anyone who might be curious about the lyric book.

I still haven't got mine.  I preordered my vinyl from the Warner Store here in Australia, on release date I got an email saying that there will be a 3 week delay in it arriving.  The warner store in Australia is notorious for these delays unfortunately.

That's a boomer I would say... I thought my Saviors CD from Japan it has a special value getting an exclusive song (not one of the best but exclusive...)

So, no way. I won't buy japanese saviors deluxe, just standard version.

Technically yes, of course. YouTube is lossy, Japan CD is lossless. Mixing wise it's the same.

I think the bonus is a sticker with the drawn Billie Joe thingy from the promotional stuff, that's it. Amazon JP had a LP sized print as a bonus.
