Green Day nominated for 3 Grammy Awards

CBS will air the 2025 Grammys live coast-to-coast on Sunday, February 2, 2025 from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. The ceremony will stream on Paramount+. Performers and presenters will be revealed in the coming months.

So did they just do away with best alternative album? Didn’t see that category in the article I read. And if I remember right back in 2009 and before when they were nominated they were never going against older bands like the rolling stones for instance. They were always put in the best alternative category

Apparently Cuatro was nominated for Best Music Film in 2014 but other than that yes. Great news!

Literally every nomination they got for 21CB was in the rock category, not alternative - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/52nd_Annual_Grammy_Awards

They deserve all three but it's just bad luck to be nominated alongside the Rolling Stones' best album in years. At a minimum Dilemma deserves to win I'd like to see them get that at least.  And have they always had artists reading out the nomination announcements like this? I don't remember seeing that before.

I mean, bring nominated is pretty cool in and of itself, like academy award nominations- still something to brag about even without the win.

After nominations have been determined and announced, Academy voting members vote in up to ten categories across up to three Fields in the genre Fields plus the four categories of the General Field to determine the winners.

They certainly deserve it. And they are not new to getting awards either. 

The band previously took home:-

the Best Rock Album award for American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown.

Other Grammy wins for the band were for Best Alternative Performance (Basket Case),

Record Of The Year (Boulevard Of Broken Dreams)

and Best Musical Theatre Album (American Idiot Original Cast Recording).

Impressive.

When Saviors was announced, some feared that an album release in january might not count towards consideration for the following year's grammy awards. As it turns out, it does. So happy for them.

So proud of them, they really deserve it! Being just nominated (three times!!!) is a huge milestone for a band that's been together for 35 years!
