True but if you want to put the songs into separate playlists it’s a problem.

But they are also in there as individual songs.

(I personally find it annoying because sometime I'll be playing Green Day on shuffle during my runs, and every now and then I'll get something like Boulevard of Broken Dreams stand alone followed by Holiday / Boulevard of Broken Dreams 😅... but you cannot make everyone happy and there are worse things in life worse than listening twice in a row the same Green Day song 😂)

Individual songs on Spotify? Only for the singles as far as I can see.

Ah, you are right! Perhaps that's why I remember that happening with Holiday and BOBD, but not with Give Me Novacaine and She's a Rebel for instance.

Right, and I have a GD ballads playlist that’s all the slow tempo songs for when I travel and want to chill out and I can’t get She’s A Rebel out of there 😤

Yeah, I can imagine it'd be quite a mood change in a ballad playlist to go from Are We The Waiting to St Jimmy 😅

Some of those rating websites which showed some things about it *did* say something about Sep 20 2024 release date, while that could be a guess by the people with the information it also just makes sense. "20 Years of American Idiot", on the 20th anniversary. We still have enough time I'd reckon for it to be announced soon and released on that date, along with other stuff.

Management I guess love teasing announcements on Wednesday. October 12th 2022, Nimrod Tease. August 9th 2023, Dookie tease. Usually followed by something on Friday, I remember Dookies 4 track demo tease was released a day early which could've been an accident if I recall during the time, but also regardless they like announcing things on Wednesday. I don't know how long they'd promote American Idiot for, but this or next wednesday would make sense if they wanted to release it to a similar time frame of Dookie's. so August 7th or August 14th. I guess we will see this month.

I'm hoping that they'll release a box set in the same way they've did for Nimrod and Dookie.

Demos will be interesting since they've scrapped a lot including Cigarettes and Valentines

Hopefully we‘ll get the chance for a DVD with a full show during the EU/UK Tour with Dookie and AI in full.
What is the „red tie“ thing Billie posted a few days ago? Is it a limited 20th box set?

On Apple Music you can pick the standard album with the individual tracks

99th Rev's obviously (but unexpectedly) back to announce that the boxset cover and name are officially up and three (or four if you count Holiday and BOBD demos separate) songs have been released on YouTube: a demo version of Holiday and Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Favorite Son and a live recording of Minority at the Irving Plaza in '04! The tracklist is also out. Hype cannons go!

So I presume this will be one of the two blue-ray discs of the anniversary pack then, the one that says “documentary” and “live”.

Idk I try to keep my hopes down as much as possible in order not to be disappointed: so does someone want to conclusively tell me it’s not either: the extension of heart like a hand grenade (the other disc) or a rehashed but still incomplete BIAB

Would love that too. As it stands, if the documentary is set for release either on September 20th or 25th of October as part of the anniversary edition bundle, then I think it’s most likely going to be a BIAB style blend of documentary (talking, interviews, behind the scenes etc) and live footage. I think whatever may have been filmed at Wembley will be part of the documentary rather than released stand alone. I hope I’m wrong, but this is the same band that just announced they’re releasing the full NYC Irving Plaza gig… just missing three songs - oh and *coughs* Forever Now music video anyone?

The description now says: "Brandneue Dokumentation: 20 Years of American Idiot, plus die Dokumentation Heart Like a Handgrenade und BBC Live"

So there will be the doc titled "20 Years of American Idiot", "Heart Like a Hand Grenade and BBC Live". I guess the BBC Live one is the open air one from February 2005 (not the October 2004 one, since it was audio only, I guess):

Seeing lots of posts saying one of the discs is the new documentary! Hope that’s true.

A Blu-Ray disc for just one song is kinda strange tho, isn't it..? Surely it will be more than just that..?

I hope there’s an option to buy the documentary in other formats and not just blu ray or part of this big set. I really don’t know how I’ll get to see it otherwise and that’s making it hard for me to get excited about all this. This doc was the one thing I wanted. To me all the AI live stuff sounds like BIAB or everything else and I don’t really care.

Yeah, I should have bothered to read the description properly, my bad. EDIT: ah or has it been amended? I think it might have been.

Well, even as the resident pessimist I‘ll accept this as proof that disc 2 is indeed the new American Idiot documentary + BBC Live. This means we still don’t know what, if anything, may happen with the footage supposedly filmed at Wembley. Again my guess would be it has somehow been spliced into the American Idiot documentary, given they have done this before (see BIAB) but that is merely speculation. I suppose the question is whether or not including Wembley in the documentary is realistic given the concert was just under one and a half months ago and there’s around two and a half months to go until release. It may well be, it’s not like it’s a blockbuster or anything, those do tend to spend ages in post production, so perhaps we will see some of that live footage come October.

In any case, another documentary on AI is brilliant news, can’t wait!

Still sad not see a show from this tour.

I mean would be awesome to see most of the Irving Plaza show from 2004 and a full show from this year 20 years later on a blu Ray. And I wanted a full 2024 show with Dookie/AI/classics/Saviors on streaming :(

But still a nice box set and I‘ll pre order the CD Set next month
