stories and songs Posted January 25, 2024 Posted January 25, 2024 @jengd It’s definitely a Billie thing, not an American thing! Hahaha. “Herbs” is a funny example because it’s one of those instances where the h is included in the British pronunciation and silent in the American pronunciation. But in most cases, he actually sounds British to me when he pronounces words with a silent h — he should def be saying the h in heads to say it normally. Another example that comes to mind is in Give Me Novocaine — he doesn’t pronounce the h in “Jimmy says it’s better than here” and so it either sounds British or like he’s saying “better than air” to my American ear! 4 Quote

I always thought he was saying “better than air” until I bothered to look up the lyrics one day. ”Gunshot heads” doesn’t even make sense. I know it’s in the lyric book that way but it sounds more like just a sound like “hey” and that works better I think. 2 Quote

Wait! Are you telling me he is saying "here" and not "air"???? 20 years of studying Idiot, i always assumed it was a typo when I saw it. Really?????? Here??? Brad Taste In Music says the whole song sounds like Cum City. And....he's not wrong. I still want to make a point that Billie says "mom" and not "ma" in Look Ma. It’s very important. 3 Quote

I hear nothing resembling “heads” lol. And I agree, I think it works better as is! Quote
Popular Post Montclare Posted January 25, 2024 Popular Post Posted January 25, 2024 Well, I'm just now finding out it's not "Jimmy says it's better than air". 1 6 Quote
Rumpelstiltskin2000 Posted January 30, 2024 Posted January 30, 2024 From where I come from in the UK we're renowned for not pronouncing the "h" at the beginning of our words or within them Probably why I heard it as "here" and not "air" Love the BTS video 2 Quote

Miko Posted February 7, 2024 Posted February 7, 2024 According to Billie's IG story, he wants to play this song in empty mall. Sounds fitting. 1 Quote

Apparently an empty mall in Richmond (East Bay) that he used to go to. A show or video. How cool would that be?! Probably won't happen but still 2 Quote

I'm blown away by this, never even considered it was anything but a random sound 1 1 Quote
