Green Day appear on the cover of Alternative Press’ Winter 2023 Issue

In conversation with AltPress Editor-in-Chief Anna Zanes, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool unravel their expansive, almost maplike forthcoming album. Additionally, the trio talk about returning to the studio with Rob Cavallo, dusting off the Dookie 4-tracks, and reveal what’s kept them undefeated after all these years. “We’ve known each other for so long, and we started making a mess together at such a young age, and it’s just continued and evolved since then,” Armstrong says. “I think that’s really rare now. You realize, now, how grateful you are that you’re able to have that experience.”

As someone who works in print, I can tell you that the cost of ink and paper have gone up an obscene amount. That’s why magazines are so expensive now.

I’ve collected several magazines with Green Day cover stories over the years, but realistically they just sit in a box in my closet. I love physical media, but it’s not worth it to buy it when it’ll be posted online.
