Popular Post jengd Posted November 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 30, 2023 Don’t see the full thing yet, but this is on the website. Seems the magazine is only physically published quarterly now which is a shame but hopefully will make sharing it easier. https://www.kerrang.com/ Looks like this is the Winter issue, available to buy. 5 Quote
Popular Post pacejunkie punk Posted November 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 30, 2023 Only four issues a year and they still get a cover story I like that. Definitely ordering but I also want that cover shot poster size 😍 7 Quote
devilskind92 Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 (edited) Wait, what? So we're not reading the interview today? EDIT: We are! And we did! 😜 Edited November 30, 2023 by devilskind92 2 Quote
lucky_stars Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Anyone know if Barnes & Noble still sells kerrang? I wonder if it’s in stores over here yet… 1 Quote

Popular Post Clockwise Posted November 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 30, 2023 Nice interview! Love that they seem to be in a great place right now. Also, super happy they're not throwing FOAM under the bus like they (kind of) did to the trilogy. 4 1 Quote

I think that they’d like to, put production logistics and playing to an audience of mostly casual fans makes it very difficult to do so. I’m also excited to hear Dilemma. I think BJ has a knack for identifying the strongest songs on their records - either through interviews or through which songs from any given record they choose to play live. 3 Quote
stories and songs Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 I think the best way for them to shake up the setlist is to just plan a setlist in advance that includes more deep cuts instead of the usual lineup. Would also be cool if they built in a one- or two-song part of the show that didn’t rely so much on tech and they could play different songs during that period. I get that there are technical reasons why you can’t divert too much — to Mike’s point, you could blow someone up lol — but there are ways to incorporate something fresh every night. 3 Quote

The one part where Mike talks about being able to deviate from the set, doing whatever they want and having a lot of fun songs to play makes me think that they will have a part in the setlist where they will have options of what songs they chose to play off of Dookie / American Idiot Quote

My issue is that, over the last 6 years or so, they’ve always had the ability to deviate from their standard set, yet chose not to - only the rare change-up on the RevRad tour, no deviation whatsoever on the Hella Mega tour, and now only recently we’re starting to see a little bit of variety at the big shows with Milwaukee, Quebec, and Louisville this year. Basically, I hope that you’re right, but I’ll believe it when I see it. There’s only so much they can do with a 90 minute set 🤷🏻♂️ 1 Quote
ekim Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Sorry billie, but even if there wasn't a pandemic foam would've still failed, it's not a good album it's like they tried to mix indi pop with 60s garage rock and the results were terrible Quote
Little Boy Named Booze Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Great interview, but nothing new except that Billie putted nipple tassels on and shaked it 2 Quote

jengd Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 Great interview, love to hear them happy, excited and fired up. Hearing about the “brilliant album” and “fantastic tracks” is very exciting. Can’t wait to hear it all. I predict in 10 years or so, you Foam haters will be sounding like so many people about Warning or Nimrod. 2 minutes ago, Little Boy Named Booze said: Great interview, but nothing new except that Billie putted nipple tassels on and shaked it Now those are photos we want him to share 😂😂 2 1 Quote

For a long time, they had a habit of being like, “oh, we don’t want to do things like that last album,” in interviews in a way that felt very…anxious and not super healthy. Like they were constantly reacting to what came before and their perceived failings of whatever the previous era was, trying to prove what they’re not anymore, instead of just looking to the future. I am not a FOAM fan, but I think the mindset they have now seems a lot healthier. 6 Quote
Popular Post pacejunkie punk Posted November 30, 2023 Popular Post Posted November 30, 2023 I wanted to hear about more of the specific tracks. I guess we'll never know why they teased #1972 for so long Just now, stories and songs said: For a long time, they had a habit of being like, “oh, we don’t want to do things like that last album,” in interviews in a way that felt very…anxious and not super healthy. I like the way he said that the way to really judge what fans think of songs is to hear the crowd reaction when you play them live. Glad they don't pay attention to all the internet noise. (But that said, wish they had played more of the album live) 5 Quote
