I don’t understand why this is crossing a line when there’s a Green Day Rock Band game, they were featured on the Twilight soundtrack, etc. I could not care less about what commercial opportunities they take. I think it’s probably a good thing for rock music to be featured anywhere in a more mainstream way right now, actually. 
 

Many big rock artists have had their songs used in movies or shows or whatever. I don’t think it’s weird at all. The Green Day Reddit vibes are bizarre.

People don’t buy music anymore so the only way to monetize the songs now is to license them to movies, TV and games. It’s a legitimate revenue stream in today’s reality. If people still bought records by the millions, this wouldn’t be as necessary (though still a good option for promotion)

Because it's a fast food commercial using the song to intise people to buy it. They've been on likeonly  5 soundtracks btw lol also this after using " exclusive" vinyls to make you buy their codfee

Just saw a longer version of the Taco Bell commercial during Monday Night Football. Includes the whole first verse (with “shit” silenced out) and ends mid chorus. Still an odd song choice for any company but I’m all for the exposure

Same! There’s no way they didn’t intentionally pick a song with the phrase “shit the bed” in it for a Taco Bell commercial.
