Jason confirms that new Pinhead Gunpowder material is in the works.

Is there ever going to be any new Pinhead Gunpowder?

Jason: "Well, funny you should ask. Yeah, let me just say we're working on it. I'm pretty sure you'll be hearing new Pinhead Gunpowder soon... in the next few years."

I assume you'll sing a few?

Jason: "I will try... I'm working on it right now, to be honest."

Next few years…lol

Few years? 2026 for Pinhead Gunpowder and then 1972 will be thrown out with no promotion in 2032 or something.

I love how Jason doesn't even respond to The Network accusation at the beginning, when the guy is listing the bands Jason plays in.   Jason hears it, takes a deep breath and keeps the interviewing going.  Mike Dirnt would have punched this guy through to whenever 1972's going to come out for a joke like that.

Right around the 1 hour mark, they talk about 'the last Green Day show'.    The host says it's "gotta be Gilman" and Jason is like "uuuuuuhhh..............."

"uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh..............sure.   sure.     Man, I can't imagine the last show.   Yeah, I don't know.  That's something I don't think about."

Honestly I’m more excited for that release than any others (I know, I’m a horrible fan!!!)

I've honestly never really been into PHGP, except for the songs that just sound like GD lol. Basically I listen to 5 PHGP songs: Life During Wartime, West Side Highway, Anniversary Song, New Blood and 27

I am curious to see what PHGP in 2023/24 is going to sound like though

God, I love PHGP, hearing new music from them is worth it regardless of how far out it is. The fact that it is coming at all is a very welcome surprise!

Respect your view. We all have different views even about the same band(s) we like, and that's cool.

For me phgp are second only to GD. I fell in love with them back in '91. Jason White joined them in '93.

Carry The Banner, Goodbye Ellston Avenue and PG ep, are, imho stunning and classic albums, and just blow me away every time I play them.

After a 5-year wait, they released the ep West Side Highway in 2008. Two new songs where added to re-release of Compulsive Disclosure in 2010, but alas that was to be the last to date of new stuff.

The Japan version of compilation album Kick Over The Traces in 2009, was a double album, which included 23 live tracks recorded at Gilman Street, oh man, amazing.

It was a sad time in 2012, when original member Sarah Kirsch died of Fanconi anemia.

So Jason seems confident they will definitely be coming back. A few years maybe, we've been waiting 13-years, I'm sure it will be worth the wait

Good look Jason with the project. It's gonna be awesome I'm sure. ❤️

Did you subscribe to the 1234 Go! PG discography club as well, mate? I cherish those repressings so dang much!

I'm sure everyone's seen Jason Holmes article about the return of phgp in greenday.fm. I love his take on its impending release at the end of his article. I hope he's right.

Quote:

"With those comments from Jason and our information on Aaron being in town to work on new material it would seem a release from the band could be imminent. But Jason was also quick to catch himself and say new music would be out “in the next few years”.

I’m gonna take the “in the next few years” comment with a grain of salt here though since the band has only once dropped a full-length album of original material (1997’s excellent Goodbye Ellston Avenue) and have historically preferred to release EPs, some as short as two songs. So, in all likelihood, a short EP is what we can expect and if the band’s main lyricist Aaron Cometbus is in town to work on new material, you’d have to think he didn’t come empty-handed and has some song ideas."

As well as a new record to look forward to, dare I dream of seeing them live again. Holy shit.

The cool thing about the '90's was whilst waiting for the next GD album, you had new phgp songs to keep you sane, or was it insane.
