pacejunkie punk Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 In the email for this I noticed they started a merch club subscription as an alternative to the coffee club for those who don’t drink much coffee but still want cool stuff. You get merch every month and exclusive stuff and also can get the vinyls they release. It’s a good idea, a lot of people were complaining this is only available to coffee drinkers and let’s face it, this is essentially a merch company anyway so they’re just saying the quiet part out loud and eliminating the middleman (the coffee). 1 Quote

Little Boy Named Booze Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Money grabbing bullshit behind a $100 subscription but I hope one day they will release a live Hella Mega blu ray. The footage is amazing. 2 Quote

Maybe I missed this part of the email or got a different email but I don't see anything anywhere about a merch club. Quote

And they were actually POURING right there beside it. I would have bought some if it weren't for that. I like irresponsibility, but not THAT much irresponsibility. 1 3 Quote
BilIie Joe Armstrong Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 I’m losing my mind over this and I need someone who understands finance to explain to me how this works as a business. Is it a tax thing? As in if you have a business that makes a big profit, let’s say Green Day, you pay a lot of taxes right but when you start a small company that sells idk overpriced coffee and some merch and records, it can break even or it doesn’t even have to and more stays in your pocket? You know, that trick where a corporation starts a subsidiary that doesn’t generate revenue, but they can put it down as an expense to lower the tax base? 1 Quote

Little Boy Named Booze Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 I was wondering who want to hear Brain Stew without Jaded lol And I think in the Hella Mega tour they started playing St. Jimmy right after Brain Stew. So Brain Stew will end super abruptly on the vinyl or it will fade? Anyway. I'm not buying. I hope 1972 will not be behind a $100 subscription. 1 Quote

The first thing that comes to my mind is that they get more profit then what they would trough Warner as distributor, not really a tax thing. But who knows. 1 Quote
Tomcat20 Posted September 8, 2022 Posted September 8, 2022 Just release those goddam live tracks on streaming services. I don‘t get this tactic. 1 Quote

A bit on the pricey side, makes more sense to just do the coffee subscription for a box every 6 weeks. Luckily I actually think they have pretty damn good coffee. Still hate this tactic of limited vinyls exclusively for subscribers that they then have to purchase at a higher price than a 2 track record should be. At least put the songs on streaming services. Slave To The Network Posted September 9, 2022 Posted September 9, 2022 I don't like this member exclusivity. They should make the music and merch stuff available to all fans who want to buy it. 3 Quote
pacejunkie punk Posted September 13, 2022 Posted September 13, 2022 Got an email for the merch club. See, if it was Green Day merch maybe. I think Green Day should do a merch club. How many things that say Oakland Coffee on them can I own? Quote
