Green Day at 'Stand Up for Ukraine'

As the humanitarian crisis caused by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine continues to grow in urgency, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced on Saturday the “Stand Up for Ukraine” pledging summit, taking place on Saturday, April 9. The event aims to mobilize significant funding to help vulnerable civilians impacted by the conflict and to support refugees everywhere.

Ahead of the summit, a global social media rally supported by Global Citizen will take place on Friday, April 8, in response to a new video from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in which he called on the international community to help people affected by the invasion. 

The rally will encourage citizens to call on governments, institutions, corporations, and individuals to donate to humanitarian efforts for Ukraine and refugees from conflicts worldwide, such as Yemen, South Sudan, and Afghanistan. 

Dozens of artists, entertainers, athletes, and advocates will join the rally, including Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye, Adam Durica, Aitana, Alanis Morissette, Alejandro Sanz, Alexandra Stan, Angélique Kidjo, Annie Lennox, Billie Eilish, Billy Joel, Celine Dion, Chris Isaak, Chris Rock, Demi Lovato, Elton John and David Furnish, FINNEAS, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood, Gloria Steinem, Green Day, Herbert Grönemeyer, Hugh Jackman and Deborra-lee Furness, Igo, Jon Batiste, Jonas Brothers, Juanes, Kacey Musgraves, Katy Perry, Leon Bridges, Luke Combs, Madonna, Miley Cyrus, Mirai, Ozzy Osbourne, Pearl Jam, Pharrell Williams, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Ryan Tedder, Sarsa, Shaquille O’Neal, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Wonder, Tame Impala, U2, Usher, Vito Bambino, and Young Leosia.

It says they will have that info at a later date. 

I assume they will perform, I hope so, although it could be just an appearance and appeal to please donate.  Also hope it’s not just a clip of a previous performance.

This is still happening this Friday? Funny Green Day haven’t posted anything about it and there doesn’t seem to be any more details about when the artists are performing and where (I assume it will be some prerecorded segment for their YouTube channel)

I'm planning on recording the whole thing just to get Green Day performance.
Then I'll try to upload it on Youtube.

Or streaming the whole thing on Twitch. I really don't know.

I know this isn't gonna happen but it would be such a boss move for them to perform a song on the rooftop of a London studio (I don't know if Apple is still a studio but RAK, Abbey Road, whatever)

I really think it's gonna be like the last Global Citizen. Probably footages from Hella Mega or (i hope!) footages from their last show at the Innings Festival.

Pretty sure it’s tomorrow 9 am and I am not even sure if Green Day will be on the telecast of this it sounds like the entertainers are just doing the social media rally (which is today )
