It's nice that it's somewhow reminiscent of 21st CB or Revrad. Regardless if it ends up being an EP or an album, I am thrilled either way. Although, I find it harder to believe that they would do this much teasing for an EP, but what do I know. At this point they owe us nothing in terms of new music, so whatever they make that meets their musical desires makes me happy. My hope is that by the time they have their gig before the Super Bowl in a few weeks, that they at least have a new song for whatever 1972 ends up being. If you want impact for promo for this project, at least having one song out to play live for the first time like that would be tremendous promo. I am not sure if it will be streamed/telecasted anywhere, but it would help drive some interest for what is next. If it is streamed in any way, it won't draw the same numbers for the halftime performance at the Super Bowl, but what you see for anyone who does perform usually has a new tour, single, album, or all three things promoted directly after the performance. He already said last year that Green Day was supposed to tour in North America only during the Rev Rad tour. Last I heard they still want to do it. But still, events were capped at a few thousand attendees ever since last spring (at least where I live, idk about the rest of the EU) and unless that’s lifted, Green Day shows will be too large to happen.
