Cali89
Love their teasers! I like this song so far. Doesn't sound FOAM to me, which is good in my opinion. Sounds like classic green day. Reminded me of RevRad a little bit. I'm optimistic their new album will be a good one 😊 And yeah the end of this clip definitely sounds like Static Age

Juliajk
This whole thing gets more interesting with every new teaser. So far I get vibes of 21CB mixed with the trilogy and it’s exiting as hell, except when people call 21CB era as old Green Day, which makes me feel ancient 😄 At first I was pretty sure it’s going to be an EP, but it looks like it might be something bigger, they are bothering way too much with the teasers I really hope the announcement will be coming soon. I enjoy the teasers, but so not ready for months of those

MillenniumFan
While I'm still slightly afraid that the production of the 3rd teaser is just that of a demo version (they're filmed in a studio playing together, which would indicate this; I don't think they've ever recorded an album without separately recording drums/guitar/bass), there's also the possibility that it is a fond nod to their discography. Essentially an album or EP that openly admits to being a bit nostalgic and retrospective. The first teaser sounded a little more processed and polished to my ears, more along the lines of post-Warning or "modern" Green Day, whereas this last teaser, at least production-wise, is very simple and stripped down and could almost be taken straight off Insomniac or Nimrod. The record would then kinda be a mix of those two styles, perhaps as a sort of "greatest hits" collection, but with the twist that they're all brand-new songs with a retrospective element. Spoiler EDIT: Listening closely to the teaser, I think the demo theory is probably more likely, unless they explicitly want to release something that sounds raw, or certainly more unpolished and stripped down than anything they've released in the last 20 years (apart from Demolicious)!!
Popular Post Carnaggy
Its crazy how much younger billie looks in studio when he isnt dying his hair jet black, straightening it and wearing eye liner. Wish he would give up that gimmick, it was genuinely pretty tastefully done during the AI era, but now its cringe as hell. He looks like the neighbor lady from arrested development when theyre on tour 2

GuitarPunk94
third teaser sounds promising, but i guess we have to wait for a first song to see what direction they will go this time i also hope the standalone songs they released after foam wont be part of this new release they are part of the pre-show of the super bowl, one day before the sport event takes place, so i guess we could hear a first single close to this date and a full release on billie's birthday / close to his bday so imo its an EP
HAPPY ZOMBIE UNICORN
I have to say I’m a bit concerned by the 99 revolutions cloned riff, but hopefully it fits well with the rest and doesn’t feel so cloned in the actual song.

BratReject23
It would be really cool if they released a EP for each birthday. Feb, May, Dec. pacejunkie punk
I can’t see them ever revisiting a trilogy again in any stripped down form but who knows. New singles for Mike and Tre’s birthdays maybe 10 hours ago, Jinxs said: I don't get it. What's the importance of last three dates? Are those their birthdays? February 17 is Billie’s birthday (and he’s the first of the three to turn 50). So that’s 2+1+7 (2/17). I still think that’s the release date.

I'll quote one of the comments by user "gremlin30" that gives a detailed run-down of the equipment in the picture and then there's some corrections/additions to that by "jstrummer", for all the geeks out there: Quote This is a really geeky posts that the guitar players here will get but for everyone else: The 3 amps on the left are Billie’s: the top one is a Park head that’s basically a Marshall. He used it for Rev Rad. The second one is Rob Cavallo’s modded Marshall- this is Billie’s main recording amp that he’s used for dookie, AI etc. It’s THE classic Green Day amp. Pete & meat didn’t come till they started touring dookie, the actual album was just this second amp with 2 different settings. Hence needing 2 different amps, and later the dookie pedal came out to replicate those 2 amps that Billie’s used on every live tour since dookie. If you look closely you’ll see it says Idiot on it, they did that when they were making AI and you can see this amp in the studio in HLAHG. If you thought the guitar sounds on FOAMF and the trilogy were too clean and poppy, seeing this amp is exactly what you want because it’s literally Billie going back to the classic Green Day sound. the third amp on the bottom is a Divided by 13 FTR37. They used it a lot on 21CBD- I made a post in this sub about how 21CBD was recorded and basically the guitars were doubled with a Junior and a tele through a Marshall (that second amp) and this /13. No idea what the ep/album will end up being, but this third amp coming back is a sign they were thinking about 21CBD. Seeing all 3 amps here probably means the album will have elements of dookie, AI, Rev Rad & 21CBD. is Billie using pedals? He rarely does except for a blues driver for a solo boost. I don’t see a blues driver on his board (the bottom circle) but we also don’t get clear shots of the board so idk. He was using pedals for the longshot and did use some on Rev Rad, so there’s a possibility there might be some new tones or not really cuz we need more info on the board. Only thing I can make out is a tuner. I circled Kevin’s amp cuz it’s a copy of Billie’s idiot head (the second one in the left stack). It’s the classic GD sound. No idea if Kevin recorded with them or if he’s filling in for Jason, but it does mean they’re using a different setup than the trilogy- that album was recorded with Jason and used AC30s and Silvertones, which is why the trilogy has a poppier jangly sound instead of the heavier rock sound the Marshalls have. So seeing Jason also using a Marshall means if he recorded with them, it will sound like classic Green Day and if he’s just a touring member it’ll still sound like the classic rocking GD instead of the poppy trilogy stuff. What isn’t in the video is fender Bassman combos- that’s what they used for FOAMF and also for the AI intro, letterbomb intro and homecoming intro. Think he might’ve started using it around nimrod and warning. They might’ve used it for snippets or not at all, but not seeing it here indicates they might be going for a bigger rock sound rather than the more lofi garage pop FOAMF and longshot stuff. Seeing as this snippet sounds a lot like Static Age, it looks like my predictions of the new stuff are pretty accurate so far. Quote Interesting breakdown, but a few things to note: Park amps can be described as “basically” Marshalls but they’re a bit hotter and more aggressive. According to either Bill Schneider or Hans Bucher, Billie’s main amp for AI was the Park amp, not the Idiot. This is also evidenced from a HLAHG deleted scene where they recorded AI (the song) with the Dookie/Idiot amp first and Billie didn’t think it was frenetic enough upon hearing the playback so Rob suggested re-tracking the guitars with the Park amp instead. It’s true the FTR37 was all over 21st Century, but Billie also just loves Divided By 13 amps in general; he actually used a combo version when “Sweet Children” opened for Green Day at Cleveland’s House Of Blues before GD’s Rock Hall induction. The FTR37 might not be because they’re looking to get a more 21CBD sound, it might just be because Billie likes it and thought it had the vibe the band was looking for this time around. Kevin’s amp doesn’t look to be a duplicate of Billie’s Idiot amp; it looks more like a JCM-type to me, but it’s not very clear. And it’d be cool if Kevin or Jason worked on this EP/album with our main three guys, but who knows — the clips being shared that feature Kevin could just be from the guys rehearsing for Hella Mega Europe. I don’t recall AC30s being used on the trilogy; the Silvertones are correct, but I haven’t read anything about GD using Vox at any point in time, let alone Uno Dos Tre. The amp used for the AI, Homecoming, and Letterbomb intros was actually a Victoria 35210-T Super Tweed combo, also referred to as the Little Vicky amp. I do recall hearing about a Bassman being used during Nimrod, but the amp you’re referring to for AI’s purposes was not a Bassman. As for the pedalboard, don’t forget that a Boss GE-7 has also be seen next to Billie’s Blues Driver as part of his live rig — not sure if it’s ever actually been used though, but based on screenshots, if he has used the GE-7 it’s been to increase the low mids slightly. Just wanted to point that out.
GuitarPunk94
as someone who plays the guitar this reddit stuff is interesting indeed, it could possibly give us a direction but with GD its always hard to predict what they are up to
