Yeah on wiki it says "The album was recorded while Green Day were writing their eighth studio album 21st Century Breakdown; they ended up recording this album as they "love to play music and be spontaneous, and after a few late night jams and a few too many bottles of wine, we were inspired to record some rockin' eight-track recordings"" so I think it was something they were having fun on for a little while.

No no no, that could be a good thing!!! Like I said on the last page, I can see them making an announcement in early July for a single to be out mid month, just in time for Lollapalooza on the 28th!!!
