I love weezer and i think they're miles ahead of Green Day nowadays. I meant the raditude era or even pacific daydream or the black album. FF doesn't have one of those. I'm really excited to listen to van weezer and love ok human but that album is just not for every mood. Know what I mean?

Maybe I’m in the minority but I actually like the black album (not their best but far from their worst)

I like every Weezer album but Raditude. Each album is different and I like that about them.

I’m actually curious to see if Green Day goes their route and just churns out 10-song albums.

As a big weezer fan i can enjoy it and like some of the songs on there but it was a disappointment, kinda like foam. Is crush really messing them up? Fob was so much better without crush as well. I was in the minority thinking crush would help them get acclaim and notoriety again but is that destroying them? I just put the foos as example because they are doing pretty well popularity wise and also in terms of lyrical content and are sounding great as ever and don't seem to need the help of something like crush.

I've been waiting on some Trilogy b-sides.   They do tend to hold onto the leftovers and use them later.   Maybe that's what this is.

They put all the b-sides on the albums

What are people's thoughts about the song being self-released? iTunes copyright lacks the word Reprise.

I think it’s really cool to see. I just wish the first offering of self-published material was a bit more enthralling.

Being a fan of both albums and been waiting for both for a bit i think I prefer medicine at midnight. It's more varied and just overall fun. Ok human is perfect for what it is but it's a bit irrelevant and i think that's because it's so mellow idk. But without questions both are miles ahead of foam

Medicine at midnight is better than foam but it just doesn't appeal to me as much. I just don't think people get all the influences on foam. I think it's cool they did some things similar to bands that aren't as well known that I like. I'd prefer they not make another album very similar but maybe in a sense it's a good thing to move away from the green day sound in some sense, but maybe they could do that with the side projects. Really actually that would probably better.

And I like the new foo fighters better than their previous two but just not crazy about some of the direction. I think they've just deviated too much from their usual direction. It's certainly not bad, and I don't necessarily hate some of the new sounds, I just prefer their earlier stuff. Wasting Light was really the last full album that I really liked.

I can understand not being crazy about Ok human. There are some dynamite songs but probably prefer their first few records as well as White and Everything will be alright in the end. Overall I appreciate they actually tried something really different but that was still really personal and well written. I'm sure Van Weezer will be good as well

Just had this stuck in my head, but rather than Here Comes the Shock, I was playing it as Here Comes the Shot. Could be because I was reading articles on covid vaccines.

I do get where they were coming from. I don't hate foam. It just feels uninspired and rushed (while they did had 4 years to work on it) and since it shares the same intention as medicine at midnight I compared the two. Also regarding production mam is so much better. Foam doesn't even work on that level. And I'm not a butch hater (in fact I really liked his last solo album) but maybe he's not for green day. While the food are working with Greg Kurstin and he's really into rock now. He's worked with liam gallagher, paul mccartney and greta van fleet as well and they all sound amazing. Anyways I mentioned FF because someone may like their music or not but they're killing it at sales and overall mainstream attention, compared to crush they are doing it so much better themselves and are an example. Also greta van fleet is doing great with young people and stuff. Crush is trash? Maybe

Well, at least I can say that the song got stuck in my head after the very first listen, but to be honest that's all I can say about it🤷‍♀️

I wouldn't overdramatize things though. The song was probably a FOAM b-side or leftover and I guess it works for the NHL thing just like FRA did. We know that the Green Day spark is still there and that they can still write fantastic songs with great, meaningful, funny lyrics. Money Money 2020 II was the best proof for that. I just kind of hope the whole FOAM/NHL era will be over soon, it never felt right for me from the very start and I'm really looking forward to a new era.

Proably it would fix it a bit for me. I highly dislike one line choruses.

For instance, I think they need to stick with Butch Walker. I love the guy and his approach to music. The master class he did showing the demo of FOAM was great and it shows why he was chosen to work with them. The song doesn't suck due its production. The production is quite good. The problem is the song itself, especially the chorus. But anyway, that's how it is

Hey would you be able to send me a link to it? I'm curious to see this but I cant find it in a google search

I see it from the perspective of the protestors towards the world at large. The "Here Comes the Shock" refrain feels almost mocking given the context of the other lyrics, like, "Wow, people are surprised this is happening again?" when seen through the lens of being connected to an unarmed Black person getting shot.

I could post a longer analysis about how each line connects to what I think is the central idea, but not sure if anyone would want to read that.

To read stuff like that is why we're here.  :)

see the stupid thing is, as a comedy song with “here comes the shark” being the actual lyric and like a fun music video to go along with it, maybe with some cartoonish shark wiggling about the place and snapping its jaws, it might actually work. As a (even semi) serious Green Day “punk” song, it really doesn’t.

EDIT: or no, just use it as the theme song for some kids show or talking kids toy, you’ve gotta admit “here comes the shark” would be catchy as hell

I listened to the new Network album yesterday & I'm not seeing why everyone's so hyped about it. There's a few decent songs but overall, it does nothing for me. It's quite interesting lyrically with what they're talking about but that alone doesn't make an album enjoyable for me

I don't know. A lot of people are judging this song as if they were expecting something huge. The truth is that this is a promotional song, released for a commercial deal, nothing more.
Either way, the piece is soundly okay, the lyrics are not as trivial as they seem and it's easy to remember, anyway. Clearly it's nothing the band can't write in three minutes, but it's not the crap that seems to be for many either.
I obviously wait for something more for the next recod from the band after a long time of fooling around between coverups, longshot, network, no fun mondays and foamf.

Glad to see someone else doesn't think it's anything special either. It's very disposable with a combination of FOAM b-sides and recycled lyrics. It's not bad as a side project, but no way would it make a good GD record.

I’ve been listening to sum41 recently. What do you guys think about their new album order in decline? I think it’s the best album of 2020

I think some 41 have grown. And they're not trying to stay relevant with shitty song.

Well yeah. They’ve never tried to do it with any particular song. It’s absurd that Deryck is able to write such personal and high quality songs and yet not get any recognition for that. Bj should consider collabing with him

Yeah I'm really happy that Deryck found a way to write good song without being on the edge of the death like in Screaming Bloody Murder lol (my favorite album by far)
Green Day should stop writing about coke and partying. It would be good for them.
