dkaih35 Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Can you guys help me? I'm gonna keep looking, but if you can find an Amazon or Ebay post that would be great!
monkeyupinspace Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Check the original release on discogs.com https://www.discogs.com/Green-Day-Dookie/release/367129

But you can always ask the seller about an item before buying.
pacejunkie punk Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I recently had a friend who was cleaning out their old CD collection, knew I liked Green Day and gave it to me. It was an Ernie. Sometimes you just get lucky like that.
KarlAuerE12thSt Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 What’s so special about it ? I just checked it and I actually got one 😅
monkeyupinspace Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 16 minutes ago, KarlAuerE12thSt said: What’s so special about it ? I just checked it and I actually got one 😅 from Wikipedia: "The back cover on early prints of the CD featured a plush toy of Ernie from Sesame Street, which was airbrushed out of later prints for fear of litigation; however, Canadian and European prints still feature Ernie on the back cover. Some rumors suggest that it was removed because it led parents to think that Dookie was a child's lullaby album or that the creators of Sesame Street had sued Green Day."
Hermione Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 Any made in Europe have Ernie, it's only ones made in US that stopped having it. Here in the UK I've never seen one without it. So I imagine it can't be that hard to find. I think even if you buy one from Europe there's still the possibility that it wouldn't have Ernie (if it happened to be one that was shipped over from the US for whatever reason), but there must be ways to find out when you're buying it. Like if it was on Ebay you could ask the seller
The Grohl Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I've been lucky enough to find CD copies of Dookie with Ernie on the back at thrift stores. As for Discogs, they're a pretty reputable source for buying. You can always message the seller and ask if they copy of the album they have is the one with Ernie on the back. If you have record stores nearby you may get lucky there. If all else fails, you can also check eBay.
BucksCoEric Posted July 9, 2019 Posted July 9, 2019 I have one with ernie that i got at a yard sale so if you see any yard sales that are selling cds its worth taking a look
That Dude Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 I've seen the ernie version at record stores before.
AlissaGoesRAWR Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 I think I may have an extra one. I'll check later today. (Also, hello, fellow Ohioan!)
desertrose Posted July 10, 2019 Posted July 10, 2019 Try the goodwill store or other thrift stores. I found my ernie copy there and got it for a dollar.

Thanks dude! if you put it on amazon i could probably get it, but as far as paypal and other payment forms like that, I can't do. Or, if you could just mail it too me (since we're Ohioans)
iTokerBoySwag Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I've never seen a copy without Ernie on it. I've owned a few copies of the album and all of them had Ernie on the back. What's up with that? I've got 3 from Wal-Mart and 1 from a pawn shop.
Little Boy Named Booze Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 You made me realised that mine have Ernie on it. Can I sell it for a millions bucks?
Other Billie Posted May 1, 2020 Posted May 1, 2020 I remember seeing a Green Day signed copy LP that didn’t have Ernie on the back and one of them had drawn stick figure in Ernie’s place . -OB
The Grohl Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 I usually see them at the thrift store. That's where I got my copy.
Lenny Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 Independent record stores will have it they typically make more money off the resale of used than they do on new copies.
That Dude Posted May 2, 2020 Posted May 2, 2020 There are always at least two copies like that at my local record shop.

The ones in Canada have all Ernie on it. It isn't worth a million, 5$ maximum maybe. The ones that are worthy are US first ever print only.

I have no idea why. Ernie is on the album cover for many countries. Only the US had an issue with Ernie to the point it was taken out. Maybe Sesame Street wasn't as known elsewhere?
