BucksCoEric Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 So my second favorite band Rise Against just released an all acoustic album today called Ghost Note Symphonies Vol. 1.(which i highly HIGHLY recommend you all to take a listen to because it is fantastic). But it got me thinking, what would a green day acoustic album look like if they were to make one? What songs would you want included in it? My setlist would probably look something like this: When i come around She Basket Case Minority Jesus of suburbia BOBD Wake me up when september ends Whatsername 21 guns viva la gloria! Still breathing What do you guys think? BTW, this is one of the songs from the rise against album. Take a listen, its beautiful.
Second favourite son Posted July 28, 2018 Posted July 28, 2018 I do like Rise Against, they’re on my bucket list of bands to see live. This idea really suits them as a band. Not sure I can see Green Day releasing an acoustic album in the same way, though I’m always willing to be pleasantly surprised. It would be nice for such an album to feature a song that seems too ‘big’ for an acoustic version to work (obviously only if it’s done well) in a stripped down way, I guess like JOS from your list or even American Idiot. It would also be awesome if they dug out an acoustic bass for Longview and WICA - I like when bands realise that ‘acoustic’ doesn’t constrain them to only a singer and 1-2 acoustic guitars.
greendepent Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Well, it would be a great thing to do if the songs chosen weren't the most obvious. For example, Take Back, Brat or Bab's Uvula Who? That would show a real job making a quieter version. Something like Boulevard or 21 guns have almost no sense on it, because they were created with mellow intentions.

Exactly i always appreciate when bands bring out an acoustic bass or strings or drums in acoustic stuff which luckily rise against did do in this album. I wouldnt see green day doing an acoustic album that didnt include mike and tre in some capacity.
bass boy Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 There are bootleg acoustic albums, such as this one I found at my local record store a few weeks back https://www.discogs.com/Green-Day-Unplugged-1996-The-Classic-Acoustic-Broadcast/release/11491077 . As cool as a new/official one would be, I cant see it happening in the near future.
deleteduser7593 Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 Actually, that show is from 1999. I have this CD: https://www.discogs.com/Green-Day-Unplugged-Bridge-Benefit-Concert-Mountain-View-California/release/3257362. I don't know if acoustic sounds fit their style. Even this show on Mountain View was pretty rough, haha...
Greg Fink Posted July 29, 2018 Posted July 29, 2018 I would like to hear: 2000 Light Years Away Christie Road Letterbomb Last Night On Earth Whatsername Stay The Night Scattered Homecoming
Thatsername Posted July 30, 2018 Posted July 30, 2018 Releasing acoustic albums seems to be a thing right now, Anti-Flag announced one too for this fall. To be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of acoustic songs and/or acoustic versions of existing songs. None of GD's acoustic songs is in my top-list, so I'm not sure if I really want an acoustic GD album. I think I prefer them full blast.

Yea i own a copy, and this version is all acoustic except tracks 19-23 for some reason, And like dissapearingfs said, the dates are incorrect and its your typical sloppy bootleg. Cool none the less.
jengd Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I think they absolutely could do an acoustic album and it may be something they do in later life (or next week, who knows 😂) and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they did something totally off the wall that none of us is expecting. I love the Bridge School performance and have a couple of acoustic bookleg CDs, they are basically the same, and they sound great.
gaslight13 Posted July 31, 2018 Posted July 31, 2018 I'd love to see them do an acoustic album of some of their existing songs. But like, not just the same thing with an acoustic guitar (like they usually do when they go acoustic) but an actual different take on the songs. So many of these songs have really deep, meaningful lyrics but are faster or bigger rock songs. If they could strip some of those down and really pull the emotion out of it in a different way, that could be amazing.
