The Longshot and Foxboro Hot Tubs

The Longshot has been received massively from major platforms. I think with nearly 90k followers on Instagram, articles from Kerrang, Rolling Stone, etc. I love the LP, I think it's fucking awesome. However, FBHT SDAR is my favourite album of all time. Even above any GD records (shoot me). I wasn't around for the release of SDAR, or anything FBHT releated, in fact, I only heard the album in 2014 (I know, actually do shoot me), so, I was wondering...

who got more press coverage? who has the hype been bigger for?

I know the obvious things like FBHT did a TV performance, and obviously came to Europe and UK. It's early dayas for Longshot, maybe that'll still happen. But what do you guys think?

I'm not sure. When Foxboro Hot Tubs started, it was a pretty big deal because it was the first music we were getting after AI (not counting The Saints Are Coming and The Simpsons theme).

Musically and creatively, I think The Lonshot is a lot weaker, but it seems like the hype it had/has and the promotion over social media is a lot bigger that FBHT.

Of course, back in 2007 Facebook was still an on going thing and Instagram and that other crap didn't exist yet, so it's hard to tell what could've been..

The Longshot also might be getting more attention due to the fact that it's Billie's solo project, so media immediately (and some 'fans') started questioning Green Day's future.

I don't know man, i like that they are having fun and everything, but I just can't wait for a new Green Day record.

It's hard to compare because of how differently things are promoted now with social media etc. All FBHT had was a Myspace and none of the band were on any social media, and The Longshot has been promoted on multiple social media platforms/accounts, but I think that's just the way it was then and the way it is now. Just because Green Day was more popular back then and the follow up to AI was being anticipated I think FBHT got more media attention though.

But I think the point of both FBHT and The Longshot is to be under the radar to make it easy to play small shows and do things differently from the massive promotion of Green Day, so getting more attention etc wasn't/isn't a priority.

In terms of press coverage, the Tubbies did appear on Carson Daly:

I would love it if The Longshot did a TV appearance

I knew I was missing something by never making a MySpace. Sad day.

It was literally the best Myspace too, loads of weird photos and other general weirdness going on and daily blogs from the Rev during the tour. I'm still bitterly sad that those Rev blogs got deleted and lost forever when Myspace deleted everything without warning.

Or some interviews.
