Ciao my friends - it is now nearly 7 years since the last live album - and who knows why it take very long to release one more - maybe they struggle to think of a name for tittle ?

I would call new album " Suck Big Tities" - because Tre shout it at end of J.A.R on last live album

So i ask you today - what would you call the next live album and any reason why ?

I think they record audio for every show they play ?

I'm not THAT in love with Green Day live shows. Awesome As F**k is a totally different things because of its vocal filters/editing but... It's about me 'cause I'm pretty obsessed about their pre-American Idiot live concerts. I'd prefer a collection of b-sides and ''extra'' songs not included in studio album to make all of us happy, rather than another live CD or DVD. In that case, I don't know, ''Back Up On Stage''... haha :-)

Haha, noooooo! They're great but I like the old shows better! It wasn't criticism... :*

I'm imagining that the title will either be political, or will be in reference to Billie's rehabilitation. With those in mind, maybe something like "Forever Alive", or "Chaos Retaliation".

I actually love this one! This title on an album cover with the band playing would just be perfect in my eyes.

I think they'd go political. Even though only a minority of songs on Rev Rad are political they still went with a political title (which is a bit of a shame imo when at its core it's a deeply personal album, I wish it was called Somewhere Now, but I digress :P), and previously even though 99% of the trilogy wasn't political they still called that tour 99 Revolutions (when it should've been called the Fuck Time tour or something). I think political is seen as a big part of their brand at this stage and when it comes to choosing titles they don't ignore that it's a good selling point, plus with Trump in office and the way they addressed that during this tour it makes even more sense. I like your titles!

I think a funny title would be less likely. But that's OK because they've already had the best fun title they could have (Awesome as Fuck - inspired by signs held up by fans at shows that were conceived of on GDC :D).

Nothing beats Awesome as Fuck for a live album title. 😁

HEY OH! The Live Album

Posted

"Looking For A Cause"
"Under The Sofa Pillows"
"Outlawed"
"Bleeding From The Storm"

*shrug* a one liner from the album could be a way to go. Or maybe it'd be something totally original like the last two.

"Shut Up Greg" :ninja:

I would also be happy with

"No Man Can Eat 50 Eggs"

I thought of one liners, but ended up not putting them as titles since they are generally used for bootlegs.

Under the Sofa Pillow would be cool for a Billie Joe's intimate live show. Under the Sofa Pillow: Billie Joe live on the couch, Lol

Takes me back to when everyone was freaking out because so many of Rev Rad song titles were lyrics from old songs.  BANG BANG and Outlaws from Holiday, Troubled Times from Hitchin a Ride.  There was more I believe but I can't recall them this morning.  But to stay on topic....

Green Day Sell Out Again!

It's really tough to outdo Bullet and Awesome.....wait a minute!   Awesome Bullets!  The Bible of Awesome!

THE BAND WILL BE TELEVISED!

I'd buy it, but I don't really have a huge desire for a live album.  And with the decline in music sales, do live albums have any chance at all of doing well?

I'll take anything the boys throw at us, but I'm happy with a studio album every few years, and random projects between to keep us from losing our minds.

Green Day have done or released SOMETHING every year since 1986.  2018 has been graced with The Cover Ups shows and it's only March!  I'm thinking by the end of this year we will have some MAJOR news.

Their next album is LUCKY 13, so it's GOT to be awesome!

But on topic, a live album would be okay.  But bsides would be waaaay more enjoyable.  You can see 10 Ba-Trillion hours of Green Day in concert online, so unless the packaging / editing is just the most epic film work ever released, what's the point really, besides adding to our Green Day shrines?

If we do get a live album, I would want to have all of the above, and a full concert from one show.   and no songs cut out.  Like a show where they played 30-40 songs and killed it.

I always love your posts, but I couldn’t disagree more with this one. In times when CD sales aren’t as important as they used to be,live performances become more and more important to show that a band is still relevant. And The Longshot is (one of) the best live bands out there, they don’t have to hide anything. If they don’t make a live dvd because it wouldn’t sell - fine. But then they should have allowed all the festivals in Europe that wanted to stream (parts of) their live shows to do so. They could also use their YouTube channel to post some live videos once in a while and show the world, not only us die-hard fans who already know, HOW great they are live. But no, we got almost nothing and their official social media channels have been dead for months now. I just don’t understand that policy and never will.

In in my humble opinion, they were better than ever during the Love is for Losers tour. Ok, they didn’t play 40 songs and I know that some here were unhappy about the setlist. But the energy and joy and happiness you could feel on stage this tour was unique. It’s just such a pity that the only proof for this exists in our memory and in some wiggly fan-made YouTube videos. That doesn’t do justice to this tour.

Sales aren't even important anymore. It's all about streaming. If The Longshot release a new live album, it will go on Spotify and other streaming services. People will see it, maybe they will listen to it and maybe they'll listen to more of The Longshot's studio albums.

I mean, with God's Favorite Band, I'm sure it didn't sell too many copies but the tracks on that album probably got a lot more listens on these streaming services thanks to the Greatest Hits album.
