Idiot (as in American Idiot) Survey

Idiot Thesis

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I am a fourth year undergraduate at the University of California, Berkeley. I am conducting a research on political discourse in popular culture and media for my Media Studies Honors Colloquium. If you are at least 18 years old, reside in the United States or any of its territories, and familiar with Green Day and American Idiot, you are eligible to participate in this research.

You can access the survey through this link: https://berkeley.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0OLpSZA4mePBb6Z or http://tinyurl.com/idiotsurvey.

If you have any questions about this research, you can contact me, Robin Calleja, at robincidcalleja@berkeley.edu.

Thank you!

Wow, what a great survey. I had a lot of fun taking that. I hope my answers help you!

Thanks! I was a little worried that people might find the survey a bit too lengthy, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. If you'd like to contribute more to this research, I'm taking volunteers for an interview. You can sign up through this link: https://tinyurl.com/idiotinterview. Depending on how many people sign up, I might not be able to interview everyone. But if you would like to be considered for an interview, that'd be really awesome!

Some people have filled out the survey just for fun but didn't submit their responses so it doesn't mess up the data. You could do that, too, if you'd like! :)

Those were some great questions! Some real stumpers too! I had fun taking that survey and it really made me think about the songs I was picking and what I liked about them so much.

I really enjoyed taking that survey. It got me to really think about the album in ways I hadn't before. I'm not really sure what this is for or how you're measuring the data but if you're able to share anything from the results, I'd be curious to know what you take away from it!

Glad you enjoyed taking it! It's for my honors thesis on political discourse in popular media and culture. I'm looking into the themes and elements of American Idiot that appeal to Americans and any correlations between those and Green Day fans' opinions regarding politics and the media. I can talk more about it once I finish the thesis. Feel free to reach out around late April/early May! :)

And if you're interested in participating in further contributing to the research, I'm also taking interview volunteers. There've been a couple of people who've expressed interest in being interviewed, so I might not get to everyone. But if you're interested in being considered for an interview, you can sign up through this Google Form.
