Happy Birthday!!!   Rolling Stone calls it the best alternative album from 1994.   I remember going to the record store and picking this up.  Still have it and listen to it at least once a week.   Wow 24 years, a great album!  Congrats guys on making one of the best of all time.

I remember getting this late spring early summer 94 May or June maybe mid July? I was still depressed over Kurt’s death and thought it was a nice album tho I didn’t fall for GD until Insomniac that album was the album that made me follow them for 24 years now but Dookie is still a great album

I got Dookie in early '06 - after hearing American Idiot, BIAB and ISH, there was still a chance Green Day were just another band I liked who made one great album and a few other good tunes over the years. Then I put Dookie on, heard Burnout and knew they were The Band.

24 years old? Wow! This is still one of my favorite Green Day albums. I picked it up from Walmart of all places  along with ISH. This was around 2004 or 2005 when my friend got me into Green Day. I already had American Idiot and he let me borrow his iPod to hear more GD. I was hooked and when I first heard Dookie it blew my mind. It's an album I still love and can't get over how great it sounds 24 years later. That album is part of the reason I wanted to pick up the guitar. I wanted to learn how to play those awesome songs. I still love putting on that record and singing out loud to my heart's content. Now I have a total of four copies of that album on different formats :P

Why is there no 24th anniversary tour? Sad.

wow, happy birthday dookie! I stopped at Saturn after work and almost got a Dookie shirt and a vinyl not knowing it's the anniversary. crazy.

1 year and 2 days younger than me 😂. I wore my hoodie with the album artwork on it out in public the other day and got some strange looks, ‘yes, it does mean shit’

And you know, it hasn’t dated at all, still sounds so good.

I got the Dookie converse when they came out and yes, I wear them but only in dry weather.  Someone comments on them every time.

Omg I almost forgot about my Dookie converse! I lucked out and some kind soul on here gave people a code or something to get a hefty discount. It's the only pair of shoes I've ever spent $50 on and I love them. I too only wear them in nice weather

I hope they do something for the 25th next year. Like release an LP of them singing some of the songs. Or do a few select shows on a POSSIBLE TOUR of playing just Dookie

I was just listening to the radio earlier tonight and they mentioned this.

They were doing a Smash or Trash where they play two new songs and people vote to chose the best of the two.   After hearing a new song by Jonathan Davis from Korn which was pretty good, they went back to regular rotation and introduced "Welcome to Paradise" with the interesting fact that Dookie turned 24.

WOO HOO!

Didn't expect so much hate for this album to pop up on social media. Everyone hates AI, but seemed to love Dookie. Seems the hate is even bleeding into their 90s stuff now.

Wait... they have Dookie shirts at Saturn??!!??!! :o

And happy birthday Dookie! Such a great tune. A small 25th birthday tour next year would be neat :D

Any time I feel old or sad cuz childhood is over, I remember that I'm 6 months younger than Dookie...

Looking back I'm plain happy that I have listened 2 of my 3 favorite songs of this album live :)

I remember at the age of 11 downloading all their main albums (I have no regret whatsoever), including Superhits, Shenanigans and BIAB.
Fast foward to age 13, finally got money to buy my own CD. I went to the only music store in my town (which closed by the end of 2012) and found the only copy of Dookie, which also the only GD CD in the entire store. Bought it for dead cheap (around $10). Boy, I spent hours looping this CD again and again
For some reason, the album was packaged in this ugly green jewel case, so I changed it to a normal clear case.

Eventually, I grabbed another copy of Dookie and handed it as a gift to my 60-year-old drum teacher, who always loved it when I jammed Green Day in his lessons. Pretty sure he still slaps this to his car radio every now and then.

And being the PAL person I am, both copies have Ernie in the back cover (the one in my profile pic).

Wut? Hate it for what? Seriously, I’m confused... Also what kinds of people are you referring to?

He's probably referring to the people that still can't get over them signing to a major label
