deleteduser7593 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I can't help but think that this song would be a GREAT song just with a sort of ''natural'' structure on it. I wrote a few short songs too that weren't really complete songs but just a few scratches standing on themselves. What I'm saying is that I loved that melody and, in a way, I thought that there was nothing to add to make it better. I feel the same about Billie Joe's writing for ''See You Tonight'' but I'm sad 'cause, maybe, its lenght makes it forgettable and not ''loveable'' enough. I love it, actually.
Clockwise Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I'm a very big fan, would love Billie to write some more songs in this Simon and Garfunkely vein.

Glad to hear it. I also think that an acoustic take for ''Dreamcatcher'' could easily make us happy, in that sense
pacejunkie punk Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 It would be cool for him to release his own album of “short songs for short people” he probably has enough partial unfinished songs like this, Dreamcatcher, Minnesota Girl and many others to make an EP at least.
Montclare Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I love See You Tonight and would love for Billie to do a solo acoustic album, including Minnesota Girl and Olivia. I'd love for Dreamcatcher and Oh Girl too, but would prefer those as full Green Day songs.
1039Revolutions Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 See you tonight is a nice segway for Uno to Dos.. but a bit dull on its own in my opinion
Second favourite son Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 It sticks out like a demo on an album of finished tracks. I wouldn’t mind it being longer if it was worked on in terms of quality, but otherwise I’m happy with it being very short - wouldn’t mind it being shorter tbh. 5 hours ago, 1039Revolutions said: See you tonight is a nice segway
Hermione Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 It's a sweet little song and I'd also love to hear more like it. I find its use on Dos as an intro to Fuck Time genius though....he sings about "seeing you tonight" so sweetly and then an x rated description of what happens
Christian's Inferno! Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I don't think it's the length of the song that makes it forgettable. Just that it's kinda generic and boring. A minute long song can be very memorable like Take Back on Nimrod because it's different from what we've heard from Green Day. And an introductory track on an album can be very memorable and significant like "Song of the Century" from 21st Century Breakdown. I like how it makes another appearance at the beginning of American Eulogy too. And even though it's only a minute long, I tend to find myself skipping over SYT because I'm just like "Yeah, yeah, I've heard this before". I think going from Oh Love to Fuck Time is better than going from Oh Love to SYT. I think the one thing that the short length of the track possibly did was get the band to kind of dismiss the track and spend less time on perfecting it. I mean, they had 36 other full-length songs to complete that maybe this one didn't get the attention it required.

Maddie86 Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 I like the song. I feel like they could do different versions of it though, I could see if working really well full band with a slightly faster tempo. It would work great with all downstrokes on the guitars, it would sound very Ramones-y and awesome

AlissaGoesRAWR Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 My thoughts on it are basically the same as mine for the lot of the trilogy — it's OK, and would probably be better if it was more fleshed out, but it sounds unfinished.
straighttohell Posted January 1, 2018 Posted January 1, 2018 love this song too! i think this is the only song they ever put on an album that feels like a scrappy little demo that billie recorded in his house by himself, i like to assume anyway. it feels intimate and home made, which is what i love about it. the fact that it seems half finished, only lends to that even more imo. the only other song they've put out on an album that has this same super home made feel is all by myself, which sounds like it was recorded during a party or something, and has such a cool vibe to it with all the background noises and imperfections. when they put out songs like this, my imagination tries to fill in the blanks of how these little nuggets came about and what it looked like. billie sitting up at 3 in the morning strumming those notes by himself in a dark quiet home, or tre goofing around in the corner of a party with a 4 track tape recorder, trying to make people laugh. anyway, i love that they included this. always was a fan of listening to bands demos, its like their giving us a little peak behind the curtain...
