Did Green Day borrow the melody for 'Bouning off the Walls' from Buddy Holly?

I came across a Buddy Holly song called 'Everyday'.. and it really sounds like the melody for the Bouncing off the Walls verses. Am I wrong?

I don't think it's that similar. They're both just rock n roll type songs with simple melodies, small similarities in the melodies are a coincidence.

I don't really see the similarity to BOTW. Some notes are the same but you'll get that with loads of songs.

I've heard this song about a thousand times in my life, and I've literally never heard that until now.

You're not the only one who thinks that.  I couldn't get through more than 12 seconds because of the fapping noise in the background.
