Australian1diot Posted November 6, 2017 Posted November 6, 2017 Hi lovely people, So I wanted to create this thread because I've had an experience where I could use Green Day's history in my written work. I'm currently writing a thesis on "Music - A Spoken Word Philosophical Thesis on the Art of Sound" and I've used the band to demonstrate how we can objectively (as opposed to subjectively) compare different artists. Here's a link to my work currently, you're all free to comment. (The section about Green Day is in chapter 3): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1OOcROR7td4SZFmJCeGNaSdJ-6rBLB2uSijiuYJZsqAk/edit?usp=sharing However in order for this thread to continue being used for discussion, I wanted to know if any of you guys were able to use Green Day in your school work, normal work etc. in your personal lives; in order to complete a task or project at hand. Cheers! Nick
Guest Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 Of course. I did the history of the band in the IB for my Mock Oral Exam and got a 7 which is an A. Till this day I know this coursework was overly intense. Then again for History in 8th and 11th grade where we did group projects on the same thing you're on about, the prior was play about Twelfth Night and we used Church on Sunday, Misery, and Best Thing in Town for the project with keeping the song and making the lyrics relevant to the play. I would recommend reading Inside the Music of Green Day by Marc Spitz. It literally gives you all the info from A-Z. Good luck!
IcyMoffatt Posted November 11, 2017 Posted November 11, 2017 I just did a few weeks ago and posted the school project online last week. I used this artwork as an inspiration to create an all-over print in 2 fashion illustrations: My 2 fashion illustrations: and I was asked to make a mix of a historic period, a subculture and an artwork by any artist. So, the 1960s for the shape of the clothes, the emos for the look and the colors, and the «Rage and Love» drawing by Chris Bilheimer (initially made for the song Jesus of Suburbia) for the all-over print of X and hearts. I got 96% for this school project!
IcyMoffatt Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 (Sorry to double post, but my last message is old now.) So, in a school work again, I used Billie. More exactly, I'm in costume design at school. I had a project to draw the costumes for each character in a play. The teacher said we needed to imagine which actor would play who in the theater production. I casted Billie in one of the roles. Here's the result: I hope Billie doesn't care to be a lumberjack from the 1920s. I used this picture as a reference:
