Q-Man Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Just something I noticed recently and formed a bit of a theory in my head about. Warning was the bands 6th album it was released in October of 2000, then they released International Superhits in November 2001, then Shenanigans in July 2002, then of course American Idiot in September 2004. Now 6 more albums have passed with Revolution Radio being released in October 2016, and now the following year in November they are releasing another greatest hits album (God's Favorite Band). It made me wonder if this is a coincidence or if they are intentionally following a pattern (most likely coincidence). But it would be great to see a b-sides compilation for everything post-Shenanigans come out in July 2018! As for the next studio album in this pattern 2020 doesn't seem like it would be an unreasonable guess considering they tend to take a few years between albums. Anyway, just something interesting I noticed that I thought I'd share. What does everyone else think of this?

Thatsername Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 There already is a rumor that a new b-side compilation is coming soon. So yeah, it could be a pattern - or not. I love Shenanigans, and a new album that makes them as big as AI did sounds promising too
jengd Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Well the pattern I noticed is that two weeks past Tuesday we got the news about God Favourite Band GH release, last Wednesday we got eyeliner with Kat Von D, I will be at my PC scanning social media all day tomorrow and gutted if there is nothing! How to set yourself up for a disappointment!
localinsomniac Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Where did the rumor of a B-side album come from?

imXieli Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 hi id just like to say i thought of this (general idea) two weeks ago. more along the lines of what they actually have for the next album in the pattern tho

Especially if it brought them back to mainstream radio again.
Hermione Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Tbh I think it's coincidence and humans just have a natural urge to look for patterns in everything and can usually find one if they look hard enough . But another b sides compilation would be cool, and just the simple fact that they've released one shortly after a greatest hits before would suggest they wouldn't be averse to doing it again.
That Dude Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I saw a theory like that on facebook. Greatest Hits, B-Sides, then a huge album like American Idiot, etc. Could happen. If this is the case, Omega 3000 by the Network should come out in 2019 followed by a massive successful album in 2020 by the Green Day band. Then a live album in 2021, followed by a few one off singles from movies and shows in 2022 and 2023. And then a Foxboro Hot Tubs record in 2024. Then a 2025 album that tries to top their 2020 success, which does a decent job but we all compare it to the previous albums. Then another live album in 2027 with an obscene title. Then in 2028 they push the boundaries of music by releasing a 5 in 1 album that kind of doesn't do that great. Then in 2032 they release a simple but amazing rock album that most people enjoy - then they start over again!!!!!!!!!!!

Bollocks Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Well 2000 - 2004 were years when the band wasn't doing all that well in terms of commercial success. ISH was released as a boost for them in terms of commercial exposure (which didn't work). Now it looks like GFB is being released as a result of their current commercial success. So, this new release doesn't really mirror the 2001 release. Nice theory though, and I do like the idea of a new b-side disc
Jesus of Seneca Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 Me reading this thread and plotting the future:
Siddharth_471 Posted October 26, 2017 Posted October 26, 2017 Then I guess in 2019 they will also make an album whose mastered recordings will be stolen from the studio and it will be called "blessings in disguise" which will be a major hype for their 2020 magnum opus titled BLESSINGS IN DISGUISE !!!!

Green Day reign supreme into the 2030s and 40s......and beyond!
