Thatsername Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I felt like this deserves its own thread, I hope it's okay: RevRad was released one year ago today, yay! I remember how I went to the record store early that day to buy it and how happy I was to hold it in my hands. Listening to a new GD album for the very first time is a very unique feeling, I always celebrate it like a ceremony. Can't wait for the next one ;-) Somewhere Now, Forever Now and Still Breathing alone put the whole record in the top 4 of my favorite Green Day albums. I still love it very much and listen to it a lot. Time flies! What are your thoughts?
CherryBombs&Gasoline Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Wow, one year, can't believe it's been 12 months since the release of RevRad. I pre-ordered it on Amazon, but they didn't deliver it so I had to go to a record store to make sure that I can listen to it as soon as possible. I love this album very much. The trilogy was kind of a letdown for me, even if I can appreciate many of the songs. They are good, but I always thought that Green Day can do better. So RevRad was exactly what I was hoping for. Bang Bang, Forever Now, Still Breathing and the the title track are my favourites, I also love Too Dumb to Die. It was a great year, the absolute highlight was seeing them live in June. I'll never forget that day. So I guess it's time for a new album
pouty bitch Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Holy shit, it's really been an entire year already! Although RevRad isn't my fave GD album, there are so many different reasons why I love it: 1. It is the first (and so far only) album where I was actually a fan when it was released, and I'm so glad I was able to experience the RevRad era as it was actually happening. I couldn't have asked for a better album to start off my life as a GD fan. 2. RevRad brought us Bang Bang, which is my 2nd favourite song ever. 3. RevRad also brought us Forever Now, which is one of GD's best live songs. 4. I like every song on it (even Outlaws is starting to grow on me). 5. I love the fact that there are emotional songs (Still Breathing), political songs (RevRad, Say Goodbye) and fun songs (Youngblood, BOTW). RevRad literally makes me feel every different emotion. This year has been the best year of my life, and this album has played a huge part in that. Thanks Green Day, for being so awesome and making such a good album. And thanks everybody on GDC for letting me experience the RevRad era with you.
RedundantIdiot Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I can't believe Rev Rad is 1 year old! This past year has been a blast! * Because the album came out when I was on holiday I had to wait until I was home to buy it- and I love it!!! It was worth the wait! * Bang Bang is as infectious as it was a year ago, Still Breathing is as powerful as it was last year, I could go on and on about all the songs! * I was so happy to get a ticket to see GD in February and they were absolutely awesome, all the new songs sounded so good- I really hope that Bang Bang and Forever Now remain on the set list * And I've loved sharing this Rev Rad experience on this forum. The Fangirls thread is completely bonkers!
Christian's Inferno! Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 A year in, here's what I have to say about RevRad. I still think it's a great album. Lots of great songs. A couple songs I'm not as keen on but there's not a bad song (the closest to bad is OW imo). It's not an album I can repeatedly listen to without getting bored at this point like I can with AI or 21CB, but it's still a very solid release and would rank high on my ranking of their albums. It was also the first album released during my time as a fan.
Daddy. Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Happy birthday! I think it's a great album, still and the tracks are great live when I've seen them. (Apart from Glasgow ) I think there's only a handful of shows left, so hopefully this time next year we'll be hopefully close to the next album.
Asik Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Happy birthday! Since I joined the green day community in 2010, its my second album being released during my time as a fan. Love every track. Bang bang. forever now, outlaws and somewhere now are one of the best songs by GD.
Maddie86 Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I really like this album, it's the album they needed to make to get them back to where they need to be! also, this is the first green day album that I haven't bought the CD version of! I'll probably own it some day, but I got the vinyl and it came with a DL code so I'm set for now.
AimieeSmith Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I was hoping they might do a surprise 1 year anniversary facebook live stream and play the full album
Hermione Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I'm not really ready to accept it's been a year , but happy birthday to this beautiful album! It's given me a new all time favourite GD song in Somewhere Now and I still can't stop listening to it. 2 minutes ago, Eric said: Happy birthday Green Day's Third best album What are first and second?
Eric Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Just now, Hermione said: I'm not really ready to accept it's been a year , but happy birthday to this beautiful album! Hermione Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 4 minutes ago, Eric said: dookie and Ai of course Classic choices! I can't really rank them any more because I like too many of them too much but I definitely agree it's up with their best.
Eric Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Just now, Hermione said: Classic choices! I mean it's so hard to pick I just know the impact of those are just beyond the others, but Nimrod is right up there imo I could swap out one of those three for it.
Montclare Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 In the past year, RevRad moved from being tied for my favorite GD album to flat out being my favorite. Bang Bang and Ordinary World both in my top 15 GD songs and Say Goodbye, RevRad, and Forever Now aren't far behind. It's the perfect mixture of personal and political.
jengd Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I too was on holiday, fleeing Orlando for a hurricane whose name I can't remember, heading to Tampa, and very excited about being in the states for the release! Was very rude, in a car full of really good friends listening to, the album on headphones and they were laughing at me smiling and gasping at each new track. I love Revrad, was pretty disappointed in the Trilogy so glad to get this fine album. Thanks Green Day! I don't even try to rank the albums or songs, I,would change it all the time.

What I do remember occurred around the time of RevRad is that I properly returned to GDC after...honestly probably 4 or 5 years. And although I'm not the most active member (Grown up life is busy sometimes, damn T_T) I am grateful that I found my way back into a fandom space. GDC is a great place and has withstood the test of time just as the band has. I love that we get to celebrate both this month
-Billiejoezee- Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 The revrad era has been my favorite era so far that I’ve experienced hands down, and I absolutely love the album so much!!! I can’t believe it’s been only a year? Feels like just yesterday, honestly.
Teenage Kicks! Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Can't believe it's been a year I love this era with all my heart, like a lot of us do And I got a line from forever now tattooed on my forearm Green Day forever
herewegoagain Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Happy birthday Rev Rad Wish I could've been around for the excitement when it came out. Still, I'm so grateful they came back with enough of a bang (bang) to re-ignite my dormant love and eventually lead me here. Still loving the songs ~11 months on, and loving the hell out of seeing the guys so happy.
The Great Saiyaman Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 One year already? I can't believe it! This is such an amazing album! I strongly believe RevRad just shows how far they've come. They started out small, but quickly gained momentum to become one of the biggest bands in the past 20 years! Now, while not as big, they're just doing what they wanna do. And I love that and I love them. I can tell they're just doing so well right now. Also, on a personal note, earlier this year I had a serious low point in my life. Not to get too into it, but this album was SUCH good therapy for that if that makes sense. Hadn't listened to it much, but at the time I really felt like I needed that. This and other new and old music just made me feel so much better. For all that, thanks RevRad.
localinsomniac Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Still find myself spinning the CD almost every day. It's not a perfect album, but a very good collection of songs (to my ears) all the same.
UNICORN VOMIT Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Geez really. Made me look - its been 155 days since GD Melbourne
kkpojpojpj Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Wow already a year, I remember hearing Bang Bang and going YES YES YES HOLY SHIT THIS IS AMAZING THEY'RE BACK! Forever Now is easily one of the best songs they've ever made, RevRad and Bang Bang always get me insanely pumped up, Still Breathing is beautiful, Youngblood and OW has really grown on me.. I could go on and on about this but let's just say there's not a single song I dislike on this album. Loving everything about this era with our boys being happy and healthy
Tre's Busted Drumkit Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 I would like to thank Still Breathing for restoring my faith in Green Day.
