albert1285 Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Like many of you probably noticed in this last tour, there was at least something from the previous albums except from the Trilogy. There were some great songs there, like really good songs. I wonder if (and would love to) one day we'll ever see them playing "Dirty Rotten Bastards", I feel like it's a such a wasted song. It's really very good that goes along with JoS, Homecoming and Forever Now. What do you guys think?
Sarcasm Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 dude we're all just trying to forget that the trilogy ever happened outside of like 5 songs
ThranaM Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 They played Nuclear Family (x2) and Amy this tour.
MillenniumFan Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 How about instead: more songs from Insomniac (their standard setlist completely omitted that album, though they did play Armatage Shanks once or twice this year) and 21CB. Those albums also deserve more playtime...
pouty bitch Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I agree with @MillenniumFan. Never mind the trilogy, play some fucking Insomniac! Spoiler Although I wouldn't mind the odd trilogy song in the setlist, especially if it's Brutal Love.
Hermione Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 They said before that they might want to wait a while before playing songs from those albums, since they weren't going through the best times when making them. But they didn't say never, and as mentioned they've played a couple on this tour plus Billie played Fell For You on livestream and they released the remix of it. So as far as painful memories etc I'm sure it's not impossible that they'd want some of them on future setlists. Only trouble is they have a thing for keeping as many American Idiot and Dookie songs on the setlist as possible at all costs, preferring to leave whole albums out (when they need to make room for brand new songs) rather than cut a single song from them lol. They've done it with other albums so I sadly I think it's also possible that they'll continue to not play Uno Dos Tre songs, not so much because of negative feelings towards the albums but simply because their AI/Dookie obsession will prevent them having space for them (see also: Insomniac ). Still even if they don't end up on the regular setlist it would be nice to keep seeing some occasionally, still hoping to see Brutal Love played before Good Riddance again.
jengd Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I think in big shows, they will always play the stuff from the big albums, that's natural, but at smaller shows I think a couple of Trilogy songs could appear, maybe next round of touring.
Christian's Inferno! MillenniumFan Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 This is true, Some of AI or Dookie just has to go, or the setlist lengthened. In any case the way it is now with more songs from AI than RevRad on the setlist, just isn't right...
Maddie86 Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I really wish they would cut Are We The Waiting and Saint Jimmy from the set list, and I wouldn't mind seeing them drop Welcome To Paradise Obviously they gotta keep Longview and Basket Case, and I'd be bummed if they didn't play When I Come Around and She. as for the idiot songs, AI and Letterbomb are def keepers! I'm indifferent towards JOS and honestly at this point I couldn't mind if they dropped Holiday. I've never been a fan of BOBD but I know it was a big hit for them so they'll probably keep playing it
Schlappy Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Theres a lot of good songs on the trilogy, bad songs too but really good songs! Stop when the red lights flash is a jam. But i think the moral of this story is we all listen to green day a lot so we're bored of them not changing up the setlist. We ain't casual
Hermione Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Just a note that If anyone wants to discuss GD's setlists in general please go here: This thread is specifically asking about the possibility of trilogy songs Does anyone know which interview it was where they said about not wanting to play trilogy songs for now? I know it was in a written article
Grunt Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Hopefully we get a chance to hear a couple live when they tour their next album, which could be a few years from now. I'm just waiting to hear more remixed trilogy songs that they said were coming out at some point. The trilogy rules!
Zebahar Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 One of the combos I really enjoyed was the American Idiot/99 Revolutions finale that they did during those festivals before the album came out. I know that will NEVER happen in their normal arena shows because of JOS, but I MAY shed a happy tear if I ever hear that combo again
CherryBombs&Gasoline Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Difficult question. They'll probably never play more than one or two trilogy songs in one show, but It would be great if they played at least one song from every era. Why not Let Yourself Go? It's fast and loud and would perfectly fit into every Green Day show. I'm a sucker for Stray Heart as well, but I guess that's not very likely. Or maybe Missing You or Stop When the Red Lights Flash ? But to be honest, I'm not very optimistic since they pretty much omited Insomniac for two legs of the tour and this album is way more popular than the trilogy. Never say never, it would be an awesome surprise...
gaerhaejrz7kj68idol Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 I think somewhere I saw that someone asked Billie why they didn't play any songs from the trilogy and he said that they chose the songs they thought would fit in best and not because they didn't want to play songs from the trilogy so I guess they will do that in the future if they think it fits
UNICORN VOMIT Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 Huge chance - love the trilogy songs live
localinsomniac Posted October 7, 2017 Posted October 7, 2017 With few exceptions, I hope they just put the Trilogy era to bed.
Tre's Busted Drumkit Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 They didn't have any particularly big hits off of the trilogy. I'm sure the odd song will creep in now and then, maybe as a request, but I don't imagine a trilogy song would take a permanent spot.
IcyMoffatt Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 They did play Nuclear Family in Montreal last March. But I guess it was because the band didn't do any concerts in Montreal during the trilogy era. Anyway, I don't mind if they play any songs from the trilogy. Those albums weren't great, but I did enjoy a couple of songs. I don't know for the rest of the world, but my local radio stations barely played songs from Uno and ignored Dos and Tré. It's like those albums never existed.
St. Jonny Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 It was great! Nuclear Family is my fav from Uno!
gd86arg Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 Next month They didn't come to South American for 99 Revolutions Tour...
That Dude Posted October 11, 2017 Posted October 11, 2017 It's understandable that they wanted to not play them for a while. Maybe with their next big tour they will be willing to blow the dust off some of them. Like lots of us are saying, the trilogy and Insomniac really need some live-lovin' at some point. Even if it's just the singles. I can't wait to see what Green Day have in store for us in 2018 and beyond!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miko Posted October 13, 2017 Posted October 13, 2017 There's a chance after enough time has passed that they play certain songs like Missing You, Brutal Love, Stop When The Red Lights Flash and so on. Let Yourself Go is likely forever dropped out due to it's really high energy and screaming parts.. remember, these guys are pushing to 50. They aren't young anymore, and a lot of Trilogy sounds like they were trying to. Still, I'd pay anything to see Lazy Bones or Makeout Party live. Glad I got to see Stop When The Red Lights Flash during 99 Revolutions Tour when they came to Finland.
