desertrose Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Triumphs On Tour Salt Lake City. - By Sara Rose Wright https://triumphsontour.blog/2017/09/25/salt-lake-city/ August 5th, the feelings of a magical night in Oakland were carried with us as we loaded up the Triumphs and boarded the tour buses to make way for the next stop….. Salt Lake City, Utah We arrived in Salt Lake City after a 12 hour drive, and the next Green Day show wasn’t for another day, so Tre’, Mike, Billie, and I suited up for a motorcycle adventure from Salt Lake to Park City. We all couldn’t wait to get two wheels to the pavement. It was a sunny day with clear skies, and our bikes were all running top notch. Fueled up on gas and Oakland Coffee, we hopped on the 190 towards Park City. We rode over the Guardsman Pass route and weaved through the mountains. The air was so fresh, crisp, and I kept taking deep breaths to inhale the smell of the trees. With The Clash bumping in my headphones, smiling from ear to ear, I gave a little pat on my tank…Thanks for the ride Bobbi. We took the 224 into Park City, and the roads to go into the downtown were closed. We pulled up to a local police officer to find out what was going on, and the officer said something along the lines of “locals only” and to “turn around” as there was a town art fair, and next thing we know, Tre’, who was leading the pack, sped forward, ignoring the “recommendation”, and of course we followed. When you ride together, you stick together. Riding with a group usually includes all levels of riding skills, from beginner to years of experience. Unless, you’re Sons of Anarchy, you should really take in all the rider’s comfort levels, which is apparent as the ride goes on. It can be a lot of fun to ride with a group, and the leader of the pack is typically responsible for maintaining a comfortable speed, route directions, and pulling over if you lose someone at a red light. Leave no one behind. It’s not a race, it’s a cruise. Anywhoooo….. We parked, found a gastropub style joint to eat at, finished a good meal, and as we were walking back to our bikes, we spotted a police officer woman approaching us. I immediately thought we were busted for parking in the town, but she had only wanted to say hi and take a picture with the fellas. She indicated she was also a motorcycle enthusiast. I gotta snapshot of her below. We made it back to our hotel in Salt Lake City before sundown. We were all elated from a fun day on the road. The next day, my husband Tre’ and I rode our bikes to the USANA Amphitheatre, where the show was going to be that evening. As we were pulling up to the backstage area, greeted by the usual happy faces from the crew, we were surprised with “custom made” parking stalls for the bikes. Bright green duck tape and little signs. The touring crew rules. On another note, a few years ago, I had a chance to ride my Triumph T100 through Zion National Park, which is absolutely breathtaking. Utah is a motorcyclists dream, and highly recommended for a road trip. I can’t wait to go back. Much love.
