Jaymee!! Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 I propose a scenario: there’s no stupid VIP bullshit, you’ve camped out overnight and or just ‘earned’ a spot on barrier whether it was through camping out or just pushing on or making your way on gradually through the show. What song, or is there even a song for that matter, would make you want to give up your position on barrier to join the mosh pit/move to a more open space to just let loose and jump and dance around? For me, I think it would be Homecoming. There’s just something about it, even in its slower moments, that can’t keep me from moving. And as much as I love the security of the barrier, it really restricts movement and I don’t think I would be able to just contain it all in.
DeJennsitized Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 I don't like the mosh pit so I guess no song would make me want to join that I like to jump and stuff but I just don't get the appeal of pushing into other people. I like being at the barrier - I've never quite had it for GD (second row at closest) but having something to hold onto is quite appealing, as is the clear view For this tour, Bang Bang was the song that got me the most pumped. I couldn't stop myself from screaming and jumping
jengd Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Being at the barrier and not being able to jump around would kill me, as would having a seat, I need space to "jump, jump, jump" lol. I would love to be that near to see well though but never managed it.
-Billiejoezee- Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 No song cause I don’t wanna die lmao If I had to pick a song maybe Stuart & the Ave or having a blast. Definitely Stuart and the ave. That song gets me going and I wouldn’t want to to spend it being stuck on the barrier or even second row where you can’t do much. Oh and pulling teeth but that would be a 1 person pit aka just me
solongfromthestars Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 The only way I'll leave the barrier is over it if I have no other choice I've been happy with the space I've had on the barrier recently though. The shows haven't been as packed, people haven't (generally) been as aggressive trying to get in and there's been enough room to dance. Still Breathing and Forever Now are those songs for me. I open my eyes after being ridiculous in Forever Now and find Billie laughing at me
Tubbie Head Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 I also need space to dance and jump so I prefer to be a bit farther back, but when I see a mosh pit forming I move away from it. My dream would be to be at the barrier at a green day concert where I had space to move and not be squashed against it or other people, but I don't really see it happening... Plus I always need to pee before the show starts But to sort of answer the question. There are a couple of songs I would loose my shit over, like Horseshoes and Handgrenades, Dirty Rotten Bastards, Bouncing Off the Wall or something from the Tubbies if they ever decided to play it. I always go crazy when they start playing something I wasn't expecting, but I enjoy my time in the crowd the most when other people are going crazy with me so I really like the hits they always play.
Zebahar Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 Dirty Rotten Bastards I say that partially because I hate mosh pits and I know that the song will never be played live. With that being said, if they did play it, I would be so excited that I would literally beg to join a mosh pit (I know I don't need permission to join one, I am just saying I would go to great lengths)
Sarcasm Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 I thought you meant "which song would make you just leave the show", and I had a whole thing about how Andres would just moonwalk out the arena as soon as Know Your Enemy starts

Trotsky Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 If I had a barrier spot at a Green Day show, I would keep it. I love to mosh but being at the barrier is a rare thing, I don't even want to know how fucking early you have to get there to have that spot (and do you pee into water bottles or what?)
Billie Hoe Posted September 29, 2017 Posted September 29, 2017 If I had barrier, I wouldn't move away from there If I ever only get into the second row again, I'll go directly to the moshpit though, just like at my first GD show, it was so much fun. I just never ever want to be stuck in the second row again

Not really, if you're a fast runner

We arrived at the venue at 7am, but it's easier to get barrier when it's a festival There are usually toilets nearby, so the person you're going with could save your spot while you're gone. Sometimes people also write numbers on hands so nobody loses their spot in the queue.
unextraordinarygirl Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I would never give up barrier. That's like a prized spot by super fans. I was 3 rows back at my show and fought to not give up that position either. If I go to a show of a band I love, I want to make the most of it and get the best place if I can.

Montclare Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 None. I've never gotten barrier, so I definitely wouldn't leave it if I ever got there. I love being in the pit, but there have been times I thought I was going to die. My apologies to the guy in front of me at Wrigley who I used as a pole so that I could remain upright. Oh, and I also thought this would be what song would make you leave. Which would be none, because I don't want to miss anything, but if I know for a fact it's the last song, and they play DUI, then I'd get out of there early.
CherryBombs&Gasoline Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I don't know, I guess I'm not a fan of moshpits. Singing, dancing and jumping up and down during a concert is great. However, I don't like beeing pushed by others. That takes away the fun for me. I had quite a good spot when I saw them this summer, but that was during a festival. People come and go during these shows. I was in the front row ~6 hours before the show started and that was enough time. Some people pushed us away, but we were able to maintain our place in the second row. It wasn't central, a bit more on the (left) side, but it was enough to have a great view and a lot of fun. I wouldn't have given up this spot for anything except, maybe, a spot in the very first row in front of Billie But one song that would definitely make me go crazy is Scattered. Not because it's a deep cut or a very rare song or something. I just learned to love this song so much in the last couple of months. Maybe it's just my current favourite, but I'd die to hear it live

greendepent Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 I hate mosh pits. If I ever get my barrier spot, there's no song that would make me give up that.

There was a whole debate in a thread about VIPs and my feeling on it is if people can’t physically queue all day but want barrier, I don’t see the issue with allowing them to buy VIP for the spot. Neither option determines your fan credentials IMO. And if I had the money you bet your ass I’d choose it over sitting on a frozen ground for 12 hours

I love to mosh but being at the barrier is a rare thing, I don't even want to know how fucking early you have to get there to have that spot (and do you pee into water bottles or what?) This, barrier and mosh pits are both good but you can be in a mosh pit any time so got to hang on to the barrier spot if you get it. I've been on barrier or 2 or 3 rows back (which is similar since you can't move much there either) a few times and never even thought about moving back. If I'm in the pit from the start or get moved back into it then that's fine but I wouldn't move back voluntarily. However when I have been in the pit the best song for moshing to (the mild and friendly type of moshing you get at GD shows anyway ) is most certainly American Idiot, with the (also mild and friendly ) wall of death. I ended up in this one having left the crowd with my sister when she fainted earlier in the show and being further back when we rejoined the crowd, it was fun and totally made up for having to lose our place further forwards Maybe I'd move back from the first few rows for American Idiot if I had the chance since it's a lot of fun and near the end of the show. Still couldn't see moving from barrier for it though.
Second favourite son Posted September 30, 2017 Posted September 30, 2017 Having been on the barrier once and having relinquished it one further time, it’s definitely not something I’ll give up lightly. I’ll go crazy in Bang Bang, Christie Road and many others but wouldn’t leave the barrier for them. Crowdsurfing would make me more likely to drop back than moshing - as much as I enjoy moshing, crowdsurfing is something I enjoy far more. If I was lucky enough to hear something like Favorite Son I don’t think I’d have any control over where I’d end up. But the only situation in which I see myself consciously leaving the barrier is if it isn’t as enjoyable as moshing would be eg because of people barging, poor view or sound, or if it requires me to wait for a long time with no food or toilet (why I left at BST).
