I played in a band with his cousin?

I grew up the lost coast, my babysitter supposedly knew these guys. I later played in a couple of bands in oakland. One of them won a grammy I heard but have been out of contact for a long while. I only remember the name of cole, who told me he was the cousin of the bass player and as a band we went to the bass players place to get a meal in emeryville. Can' the bass player fill me in. Also I have to give it to him GD were  one of the reasons I got into punk and the Ivy room is and will remain a favorite bar, good bookers, good tenders, good owner.
