Undómiel Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I saw this as I was mindlessly surfing the internet during my lunch break. My boss and I were discussing feminism and I suddenly remembered that there was this website out there that was almost a parody of itself called ROK... except it takes itself totally seriously. He'd never heard of it and I just wanted to make a point that these things actually exist... This thread isn't supposed to be about the website - I could get on my soapbox for years about it. What is about is the fact that they name Green Day as 1 of the bands you should boycott because they're a "social justice band" - I don't know about you, but I'm pretty proud of Green Day being on a boycott list written by a sexist, homophobic, anti-Semitic website. The article states that: However, ever since they sort of reinvented themselves with 2004’s ‘American Idiot’ album, intended for a new generation of youth, they have been on a systematic SJW downward slide. Aging into their 30’s, and now even their 40’s, while still paint brushing their hair in neon green or blue, also seems as ridiculously out of place as their late-bloomer liberal college campus politics. Try and cherish the memories of a 1995 era Green Day, because they are a cringe-inducing shadow of their former selves, and not deserving of any concert attendance or merchandise purchases while they choose to remain active. There is a link to the rest of the article (and other bands listed) here but seriously don't get sucked down the rabbit hole on this website. It's not worth it - it's an utter shit hole of ridiculousness.
Trotsky Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Some time ago I spent a half hour or so browsing this site, and that's a half hour of my life I'll never get back. I recall such subjects as "never date a girl with a tattoo because that means she thinks her body belongs to her and she will cheat on you", "it's okay to fuck a fat girl if you're desperate, but don't make a habit of it", and various right-wing garbage. And they love Trump because of course they do.
Thatsername Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 OMG the video they posted with the text is even more hilarious. Bang Bang as "a call to arms to attempt to assasinate Donald Trump"?? I couldn't watch the whole thing, the guy is driving me crazy. Oh and this is interesting too, according to their "community beliefs", "a woman’s value significantly depends on her fertility and beauty. A man’s value significantly depends on his resources, intellect, and character." Okay, I'm out. And yes, we can be very proud
Billie Hoe Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Ridiculous, right wing crybabies attacking Green Day is my kink, that's why I always visit the comment section of Billie Joe's instagram posts. I love seeing them offended. 19 minutes ago, MMwhatsername said: Bang Bang as "a call to arms to attempt to assasinate Donald Trump"?? if only that were true

Here's to laughing at offended right wing and its propaganda. OMG I am one sentence into the article and the writer says he's dedicated to spreading the red pill truth. This is gold. I can't believe he's serious.

Trotsky Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 Also I noticed in their article they have Stray From the Path. I'm not into this particular band, they're honestly just not that good of musicians, but that music video is so fucking fun to watch, and it is so fucking cool that they did it.

Trotsky Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 It goes without saying that Green Day has never promoted violence against far-right nazi scumbags, but if you want to hear some music that does, I have some for you:
gaslight13 Posted August 3, 2017 Posted August 3, 2017 I love when they get put on lists like this. It's funny, it confirms that they're doing good things, and it means fewer rascist/sexist/homophobic scumbags will come to their shows. It's great! Also, I love seeing how crushed racist/sexist white men get when they discover a band they loved in their youth actually cares about people and aren't pieces of shit like them.
